United Airlines flight 401 had to make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport, California, on January 11.
The Airbus A319, travelling from Denver, Colorado, declared emergency due to a suspected mechanical problem.
The plane landed uneventfully and all 120 passengers aboard remained unharmed.
The nature of mechanical problem is not clear at the moment.
Shaheen Air flight NL-718 made an emergency landing in Lahore, Pakistan, on June 16th.
The plane was flying from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, when the crew reported an issue with nose wheel steering.
The plane landed safely. All 377 people aboard remained unhurt.

What: British Airways Boeing 777-200 en route from Santa Maria Azores Islands (Portugal) to London Heathrow
Where: Atlantic
When: Oct 19th 2011
Why: While en route to Portugal, one of the plane’s four engines (right engine) had to be shut down after experiencing a problem with the oil pressure. The flight diverted to Lisbon, and made a safe landing.
The same plane had had a similar problem on October 16th, and had diverted at that point to Santa Maria.
What: Avianova Airbus A320 en route to Rostov
Where: Kuban region, Russia
When: June 3, 2011
Why: Pilots were approaching Rostov airport at (altitude) 300-400 meters when a green laser blinded one of the members of the flight crew.
The pilots managed to make a safe landing, then reported the laser situation.
Pakistan International Airlines flight PK-764 suffered a bird strike near Faisalabad, Pakistan, on September 4th.
The incident happened when the Airbus A320-200 plane was coming from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The plane continued for a safe landing. All one hundred and fifty-four people aboard remained unharmed.
KLM Airlines flight KL-897 made an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on September 30th.
The plane took off for Beijing, China, but had to turn back after the crew reported a flaps problem.
The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.
Brussels Airlines flight SN-2104 had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, England, on August 26th.
The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Brussels, Belgium, but had to turn back due to an engine failure.
The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
