An EasyJet flight, en route from Aberdeen to London Gatwick, was diverted to Birmingham on Thursday, due to a medical emergency.
According to the airline spokesperson, “EasyJet can confirm that flight EZY872 from Aberdeen to London Gatwick diverted to Birmingham Airport on April, 17, 2014 due to a passenger onboard requiring urgent medical assistance.”
The plane carrying 125 passengers safely landed on Birmingham Airport at about 10 am.
What: Emirates Airlines Airbus A380-800 en route from Dubai to Manchester

Why: After a hard touchdown into gusting winds, the crew elected to perform a go-around. Although the pilot’s 2nd attempt at a landing was more successful, the plane’s later flight was delayed due to maintenance.
What: Emirates Airlines Airbus A330-200 en route from Dubai to Kochi
Where: Kochi
When: September 14 2012
Who: 275 aboard
Why: According to IBN Live, an Emirates flight from Dubai to Kochi developed hydraulic problems and had to make an emergency landing in Kochi.
ATC said “Precautions were taken.” We assume this to mean that emergency services were on standby, but have no indication if any services were actively engaged.
The flight made a safe landing.

What: Aeromexico Connect Embraer ERJ-145 en route from Veracruz to Monterrey
Where: Tampico
When: Mar 17th 2012
Who: 48 passengers and 3 crew
Why: The flight developed a cabin pressure problem. As the aircraft (and oxygen masks) descended and temps in the plane ascended, pilots diverted to Tampico. Passengers responded with alarm but were reassured by the flight crew.
The pilots made a safe landing in Tampico.
Passengers disembarked, and were provided an alternative flight.
United Airlines flight UA-956 made an emergency landing in Geneva, Switzerland, on December 17th.
The Boeing 767-300 plane flying from Newark, New Jersey, declared an emergency due to an issue with the flaps.
The plane landed safely. All two hundred and thirteen people aboard remained unharmed.
Aer Lingus flight EI-110 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Boston, Massachusetts, on October 2nd.
The Boeing 757-200 plane was flying from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, to Shannon Airport, Ireland, when the crew reported a fault in the left hand engine and decided to divert.
The plane landed uneventfully. There were 115 people aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.
Lufthansa flight LH-1375 made an emergency landing in Frankfurt, Germany, on July 26th.
The plane was flying from Wroclaw, Poland, when the crew declared an emergency due to fumes in the cabin.
The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
