    Small Plane Crashes into Guatamalan Zoo, 3 fatalities, Zookeeper Burned


    What: Piper PA-23-250 Aztec for sightseeing tour of city
    Where: Aurora Zoo, Guatemala City
    When: April 21, 2012
    Who: 3 fatalities
    Why: The Piper took off from La Aurora International Airport and crashed into the Aurora Zoo beside the Esquilandia playground. The pilot of the aircraft, Alex Quezada, 35, Oscar Calderon, 22, who was the co-pilot, and Christian Werner, 20 were killed in the crash. One employee of the zoo, Carlos Aspuac, was hospitalized at Roosevelt Hospital with second and third degree burns. Hundreds of visitors were evacuated from the zoo.

    The DAC says the plane was having mechanical problems. Witnesses report seeing the plane “rocking” and emitting black smoke, before it crashed.

    What: Changhe CA109 (Agusta A109) Police helicopter
    Where: Beijing China
    When: August 17, 2011
    Who: 4 aboard missing, 1 rescued
    Why: In Beijing, five crew members were in a police helicopter returning from a drill when it crashed into a reservoir. One crew member was rescued.

    The drill occurred in a mountainous region of Miyun County that ended at 9:12 a m.

    Two Lost in Glider Crash in France


    A privately owned Schempp-Hirth Arcus E glider had taken off from Sisteron Theze Airport and was near Faucon-de-Barcelonnette in the Ubaye mountains, France, when they disappeared on Sunday.

    The two German glider pilots on the glider were both killed. They disappeared Sunday and were found near Faucon de Barcelonette. The 51 year old pilot was experienced.

    They took off on Sunday and disappeared. THe last contact with them was at two in the afternoon.

    There were strong winds and storms at the time of their disappearance.

    13 Killed in Mexico Helicopter Crash

    A military helicopter crashed on top of two vehicles in Oaxaca, Mexico, on February 16th.

    The incident happened when the helicopter, carrying officials including Mexican Interior Minister Alfonso Navarrete Prida and Oaxaca’s governor Alejandro Murat, was attempting to land at an airfield in Santiago Jamiltepec.

    All the occupants survived the crash, however, thirteen people on the ground were killed.

    The officials on-board the helicopter were surveying damage caused by the recent earthquake.

    Single-Engine Plane Crashed near Mesquite Metro Airport; Pilot Killed

    Police lightsA Beechcraft Bonanza plane crashed in the 1600 block, Bent Tree Road, near Mesquite Metro Airport in Dallas County, Texas, on the night of December 18.

    The authorities said the single-engine plane crashed while it was attempting to land at Mesquite Airport.

    The pilot, who was the only person aboard the plane, was killed in the crash. His identity has not yet been revealed.

    The accident is under investigation.
