    • Airbus (350) had a “blockage in the drilling station and the knock-on effect hampering wing production” and problems with suppliers of A350 structural components. A350 also face the looming challenge of obtaining certification
    • Boeing (787) which already graduated to the market, has demonstrated issues with 787’s lithium-ion batteries which use 10 times more power during initial start-up than other Boeings. In-flight monitoring made a demonstrable difference in reliability. A recent report estimates that 29 flights had been “saved” because of the 787’s extensive monitoring system

    Japan Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Tokyo International Airport

    Japan Airlines flight JL-6 made an emergency landing at Tokyo International Airport, Japan, on September 5th.

    The Boeing 777-300 plane took off for John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, but had to turn back after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.

    The plane landed safely. All two hundred and thirty-three passengers and fifteen crew members remained safe.

    KLM Flight Diverts to Romania due to Medical Emergency

    KLMKLM flight KL835 made an emergency landing at Henri Coanda Airport in Bucharest, Romania, on January 3rd.

    The plane, heading from Amsterdam to Singapore, was diverted after a child on-board suffered a cardiac arrest.

    The plane landed safely. The child and his mother were immediately taken to hospital.

    The plane continued its journey after a short delay.

    SunExpress Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Germany

    SunExpress flight XG-4834 made an emergency landing in Dusseldorf, Germany, on January 20th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Hurghada, Egypt, was on approach to Dusseldorf when the crew reported a flaps problem and entered a hold.

    The plane subsequently landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    What: Rusline/Rusair Tupolev TU-134A en route from Moscow to Petrozavodsk
    Where: outskirts of the Besovets village, Petrozavodsk, Russia
    When: Jun 20 2011 at 11:40 pm
    Who: 43 passengers and 9 crew
    Why: Family members of the 44 deceased victims of the RusAir crash attempted to identify the bodies of their loved ones in Petrozavodsk, although visual identification in some cases was impossible. For those victims, DNA identification will be employed.

    The RusAir crash occurred in heavy fog, carrying passengers from the Ukraine, Sweden, Holland, plus four people with dual Russian-U.S. Nationalities. The video below was released on 2011-06-23

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Indiana

    A small plane had to make an emergency landing in a farm field near Cedar Lake, Lake County, northwest Indiana, on September 11th.

    The plane was headed to Griffith-Merrillville Airport, Indiana, when it had to divert.

    Pilot, who was the only person aboard, remained unharmed.

    The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
