Why: When the landing gear light (which should indicate landing gear are in place) did not come on during approach, the pilot told Auckland ATC, and performed a flyby confirming the gear were down. The pilot went on to make a safe landing.

Why: A couple of hours into the flight (20 minutes away from the destination), the crew detected a hydraulic issue with the landing gear. After announcing they were diverting to Dhaka, they instead returned to Karachi for repairs. The choice of Karachi was made due to superior facilities for repair, at least as compared to what was available in Dhaka.Passengers disembarked and boarded another plane.
Pakistan’s sports team (Pakistan boxing, table tennis, swimming and a martial arts team) were aboard en route to the South Asian Games.
At least 350 game participants left Karachi in at least 6 flights.
KLM Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Los Angeles
KLM flight KL-602 had to return and make an emergency landing in Los Angeles, California, on November 18th.The Boeing 747-400 plane took off for Amsterdam, Netherlands, but had to turn back due to an engine problem.
The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
Little Airline’s Big Deal with Boeing, Lion Air 21.7 Billion Expansion
Indonesian Lion Air is planning to buy 230 planes from Boeing Co. $21.7 billion for the fleet will be paid in loans from U.S. Export-Import Bank over 12 years though bank financing. The airline will be adding flights to cities in China, South Korea and Taiwan. Lion Air, founded in 2000, currently flies Boeing 737s and MD-90s in 226 flights daily to more than 36 cities including Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Ho Chi Minh City.The 737 MAX is a fuel efficient upgrade competitive with Airbus SAS’s A320neo.
Turkish Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing due to Hydraulic Failure
Turkish Airlines flight TK-98 made an emergency landing in Medina, Saudi Arabia, on April 3rd.The Airbus A330-200 plane flying from Istanbul, Turkey, was on approach to Medina when the crew requested assistance due to a hydraulic failure.
The plane landed safely and was towed to the apron. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

Why: Pilots had an indication of unsafe nose gear and landed without nose gear at Jeddah at 12:55. Emergency crew (reported as “civil defense but that could have been a translation error” sprayed the runway. The crew disembarked via slides. There were no injuries reported.The flight was “a special flight from the western town,” with ten crew and no passengers. We assume a ferry flight.
The video shows mobile stairs that are up for the post flight check-up, but notice the steep angle of the slide at the rear of the plane.
