    Hollywood CA-LA flight Diverts to Miami

    What: American Airlines Boeing 737-800 en route from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles
    Where: Miami
    When: July 12 2012
    Who: 143 passengers 6 crew
    Why: After taking off from Fort Lauderdale, the flight experienced problems (cabin pressure) and diverted to Miami International airport.

    There was some delay while the problem was resolved (either cabin pressure or a faulty indicator) and after an hour and a half on the ground, the flight continued. The flight, that normally lands in Los Angeles around 11 PDT, is anticipated to arrive around 3 PDT.

    Five Killed as Small Plane Crashed near Bakersfield

    small planeA small plane crashed in an orchard near Bakersfield, California, on December 19.

    The single-engine Piper PA32 aircraft took off from Reid-Hillview Airport, San Jose, to Henderson Executive Airport, Las Vegas, when disappeared from the radar and went down.

    There were five members of a Gilroy, California, family aboard the plane at the time of crash; all of them were killed. Their identities have not yet been released.

    The accident is being investigated.

    British Airways Stormed by Middle Aged Drunk Women


    Two drunk women caused a British Airways flight Gatwick to Tunis flight to divert to Lyon. At 30,000 feet, the women smoked in the bathroom, and exhibited disruptive behavior, refusing to sit, attempting to get into the cockpit, and threatening to “track down and kill” the family of a BA stewardess.

    They were arrested in Lyon, where gendarmes tossed them in the drunk tank overnight, and sent them back.

    British Airways may ban them from flying BA flights.

    Dynamic Airways Plane Catches Fire while Taxiing; 15 Injured

    dynamicDynamic Airways flight 2D-405 had to return to the ramp while taxiing at Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport, Florida, on October 29.

    The Boeing 767-200, heading to Caracas, Venezuela, had to abort taxiing due to fuel leakage from one of its engines. The fuel leakage later caused fire.

    The plane received significant damage.

    Among the 79 passengers and 11 crew members aboard, 15 people sustained injuries and were taken to hospital.

    What: Continental Airlines Boeing 737-800 en route from Washington DC to Houston
    Where: Washington’s International Airport
    When: Feb 28th 2011, 7:45 a.m
    Who: 44 passengers
    Why: On takeoff, the plane’s engines digested birds. Following the bird strike, the plane diverted to Washington’s International Airport and made a safe landing. Passengers were booked on alternative flights.

    Aero Resources Flight Crashes in North Carolina, 4 die in crash


    What: Aero Resources Corp. of Hazard Beechcraft 58 Baron en route from Georgia to Kentucky
    Where: Unaka, about 125 miles west of Asheville, NC
    When: May 25, 2011
    Who: 4 fatalities: pilot Mat Shuey, Tiffany Maggard, Kassie Robinson and Miranda Morgan
    Why: Pilot Mat Shuey was flying at 9,000 feet, above the area peaks when he reported an emergency over North Carolina when it crashed north of Lake Hiwassee near the Tennessee border, and started a brush fire.

    The wreckage was spotted on the afternoon of the 25th but the site was not immediately accessible. The pilot and three female passengers died in the crash. The four bodies were recovered by rescue crews on Thursday.

    Tiffany Maggard, Kassie Robinson and Miranda Morgan, who had all graduated from a Knott County Kentucky high school, had been visiting a friend in Alabama. The pilot’s name was not released.
