Brazilian air traffic has been up for the end of 2007 holiday season. This is news as Brazil’s aviation infrastructure has been struggling since a fatal crash of a TAM airliner at Congonhas airport, which was Brazil’s main domestic hub, caused disruption and led the government to restrict flights and basically turn over most of the aviation leadership.

While navigating the runway, the plane ran off the runway and became mired.

Why: Summary: On October 31 1996, about 0545 UTC a Fokker 100, registration PT-MRK, operating as TAM Airlines flight. 402, a shuttle between Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, crashed shortly after takeoff from the Congonhas Airport, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The aircraft was destroyed; 89 passengers,6 crew and 2 on the ground died. 3 passengers were Americans .Witnesses reported the aircraft failed to gain altitude after take-off, collided with a tall building and crashed into residential area 1 mile from the end of the departure runway. The friction from the belly landing was controlled by foam applied by the firefighters who were on standby when the flight landed. Actually, you can see they were there ahead of time, and how they used the time while the pilots were burning off fuel.

Pilots were aware of the inability of the gear to lock, so they burned off fuel before making the landing.The plane is normally used as an air taxi. The video below shows the plane landing on foam.

Gol Transportes Aereos Flight Diverts to Curitiba, Brazil
Gol Transportes Aereos flight G3-7660 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Curitiba, Brazil, on August 10th.The plane heading from Sao Paulo, Brazil, to Santiago, Chile, was diverted due to a smoke indication.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Plane Crashes in Manaus parking lot, Money, Cars up in smoke
A Tio Taxi Aereo Embraer EMB-810C Seneca II en route from São Paulo Olivenza to Tefé to Manaus-Aeroclube de Flores was flying a cargo of money when the pilot had difficulties and attempted to land on Avenue Nilton Lins, but crashed in the Eletrobrás parking lot with sixty cars of which 20 were destroyed. The cargo went up in smoke.
Institute of Municipal Engineering and Traffic Authority of Manaus and the fire department were on the scene. Regional Service Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Seripa) expects to provide a report within 30 to sixty days.
The pilot, Iran Rolim, co-pilot Bill Pacheco and two passengers were hospitalized. One pf the passengers was named as Roberto do Santos. The maintenance engineer of Tio Táxi Aéreo, Amarildo Furtado da Silva provided details to news services.

Why: A minute after takeoff, an Amazonaves Air taxi which crashed at the threshold of the runway in the neighborhood of Tarumãt West Zone at 3 pm on Thursday had the owner, and his wife and son among those aboard. Antonio Neto Picão, his wife, Luciana, and a son, Matthew, 12 died in the crash and were buried in Boa Vista. Two daughters chose not to fly.The four other fatalities were Pilot Waldeir Alencar da Silva,, Kelly Cidrônio, Janilça Oliveira Nascimento and Magno Souza. Santos was buried in Manaus, Alves in Minas Gerais and the two other passengers in Santarém. Janilsa and Magno Nascimento Souza were employees.
The cause of the crash has not been determined but Infraero confirmed that the plane was carrying 7 people, but only has a capacity for 5.
Serviço de Investigação de Acidentes Aeronáuticos (Seripa) expects a report in 30 days.
In 2002, an Amazonaves plane crashed in the Amazon;
In 2003, an Amazonaves crashed during a flight inspection;
In 2007, an Amazonaves crashed into a house in Manaus.
All of the crashes were determined to be due to mechanical failure.The two engines and propellers of the Amazonaves Seneca (PT-EFS) will be sent to Sao Paulo where they will undergo deconstruction to be examined for signs of defect.
