    Overland Suffers Smoke


    On Feb 8, 2013, an Overland Airways ATR-72 flight OJ1175 from Abuja to Ibadan, Nigeria, suffered engine issues with smoke pouring from one engine. Passengers saw the smoke which started a panic, and they evacuated through the emergency exit.

    There were no injuries reported.

    The passengers remained in Abuja awaiting a replacement plane.

    The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) is investigating.

    Congo Plane Excursion

    What: Protocole Aviation Douglas DC-8 freight flight from Pointe-Noire to Brazzaville
    Where: Brazzaville
    When: Sep 12th 2011
    Who: 4 crew
    Why: En route transporting food from Pointe-Noire to Brazzaville in the Congo, the flight landed hard. A tire burst on landing, resulting in the plane going off the runway.

    The landing gear was damaged.

    AirTran Flight 388 Emergency

    What: AirTran Flight 388 from Orlando to Moline made an unscheduled landing Friday in Atlanta after a handful of passengers
    Where: diverted the plane to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
    When: Feb 6, 2009
    Who: Number of passengers not released. One crew member was hospitalized.
    Why: crew and passengers who complained about the dizziness. They were checked out and most continued on a different plane ( flight took off from Atlanta around 12:35pm CST) to continue the trip to Moline.

    Airbus Struck by Truck



    What: British Airways Airbus A320-200
    Where: Stockholm Arlanda Sweden
    When: Dec 5, 2012
    Who: 0 fatalities
    Why: The British Airways Airbus A320 by an icing truck. Fortunately the Airbus was on the ground at the time.

    Tweets say that heavy snowfall at the Arlanda Airport has passengers waiting for flights for hours

    There was apparently no visual damage to the plane, but as it must be inspected prior to flying, the flight was cancelled.

    TAP Portugal Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Munich

    TAP Portugal flight TP-558 had to make an emergency landing in Munich, Germany, on April 17th.

    The Airbus A319-100 plane flying from Lisbon, Portugal, was on final approach to Munich when the crew reported an issue with the nose wheel steering and went around.

    The plane landed safely on second approach. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Aeroflot Flight Returns to Moscow due to Engine Vibrations

    Aeroflot flight SU-1510 had to return and make an emergency landing in Moscow, Russia, on December 27th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Surgut, Russia, but had to return shortly afterwards due to engine vibrations.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
