Why: Captain Pilot Xavier González Montenegro, Lieutenant Pilot Campaign Mario Ramirez, Lieutenant Pilot Gabriel Palacios Jiménez, Iván Paredes Sergeant Corporal Yanez and Juan Román Guevara crashed while performing civic action flights. While en troute back to Tena the plane crashed, and fell into the Anzu river.

Piper Lands in Canadian Blizzard

On Jan 29, 2013, at 9:15 a.m., an Image Air Charter Ltd Piper PA-46-500TP Malibu Meridian was en route from La Crete, Alta to Three Hills (Canada) with three people aboard when it attempted to land in bad weather at Three Hills Airport.The plane descended into a blizzard, and at one end of the runway struck an ice berm that knocked off the left wing. One wing and the landing gear were damaged. Conditions were so bad that no one at the hanger knew there was an accident until emergency crews arrived. Three Hills RCMP, Fire and EMS responded. An environmental services company cleaned up the fuel leak.
One passenger who was suffering chest pains was taken to the hospital.
The 2008 Piper PA-46-500TP Turbo Prop is registered to Image Air Charter Ltd.
The NTSB is investigating.
Clinch Crash Kills Two

What: 1974 single-engine Piper PA28-151, registered to Warrior Aviation LLC of Syracuse, Ind
Where: Grainger County mountaintop
When: Saturday 12:20 p.m.
Who: Two people were on board. Lowell Owens and his wife, Susan, 51, both fatalities

Helicopter Crash in Malaysia Kills 6
A helicopter crashed near Kampung Pasir Baru, Semenyih, Malaysia, on April 4.The commercially-chartered twin-engine Daughin helicopter crashed while it was transporting guests from the wedding reception of Malaysian prime minister’s daughter in Pekan, Pahang state.
Six people, including the country’s special envoy and former ambassador to the United States, Jamaluddin Jarjis, and the chief of staff to prime minister, Azlin Alias, were killed in the crash.
Among other victims was the pilot Clifford William Fournier, operations assistant Aidana Baizieva, Kedah businessman Huat Seang and Mr Jamaluddin’s bodyguard Razakan Seran.
Prime Minister Najib Razak has ordered a probe to determine the cause of crash.
Fossett’s Plane Found

When: Found Wednesday (a year after the plane was lost Sept. 3, 2007)
Who: Steve FossettThree days after a hiker, Preston Morrow, found Fossett’s pilot’s license, a glider license and a membership card for the National Aeronautic Association, the wreckage of his plane was found.
A piece of bone 2 by 1 1/2 inches was found–the only possible human remains found to be DNA tested. Apparently the plane flew horizontally into the mountain, then the wood, aluminum and cloth plane shattered and burned.
Once the DNA is confirmed, at least the family will be able to have closure.

Why: On approach to the airport, the plane struck the ground about 2600 feet shy of runway 2. On impact, the plane burst into flame, and skidded into the gardens of a residential area, although missing residences.Initially eight people survived, but on the 21st, a nine year old boy died, a woman died on the 25th, and a man died on the 26th.

What: Philippine Air Force Siai-Marchetti AS-211 Warrior
Where: Banawang village near the Stela Mariz Beach resort, Philippines
When: April 28 2011
Who: 2 pilots
Why: After taking off from Basa Air Base (Clark Field in Pampanga) on a routine flight, the Aermacchi S-211 trainer jet crashed near the beach.Initially reports said there was one person aboard, but later reports say there were two who both died in the crash. One body has been retrieved, and divers are searching for one of the pilots who is missing. The condition of the plane is described as “vaporized” and “disintegrated.” Pieces of the plane, and what can be found of the bodies are being recovered for the examination, and local witnesses are being interviewed about what they saw.
The fatalities were Maj. Ephraim Gatus Suyom and Juan de Leon.
