What: Continental Airlines Boeing 757-200 en route from Newark to Lisbon
Where: west of the Azores
When: Feb 27th 2010
Why: While en route, after experiencing unreliable airspeed and losing communication (briefly), the flight again made radio contact and diverted to Lajes on Terceira Island. With partial avionic functions, and no autopilot, they made a safe landing.
A Canadian turboprop Dash 7 jet, carrying former President Bill Clinton, had to make an unscheduled landing in Dodoma, Tanzania on April 29.
The plane was en-route from Iranga to Lake Manyara when one of its four engines malfunctioned. The pilot then had to land near Dodoma fueling station where the engine was repaired.
The aircraft took off again shortly afterwards and safely landed at its scheduled destination.
Clinton was visiting the country to tour projects funded by his foundation.
Virgin Atlantic flight VS-34 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on August 15th.
The Airbus A330-200 plane heading from Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda, to Gatwick Airport, England, was diverted after the crew received a cargo smoke indication.
The plane landed safely. All two hundred and eighty passengers and twelve crew members remained unharmed.

What: Air Canada Airbus A330-300 en route from Calgary to London
Where: Calgary
When: Jul 6th 2010
Why: On the runway, the pilot rejected takeoff because of an engine surge. The passengers were returned to the gate, and the plane taken for inspection. Passengers were provided an alternative Boeing 767-300 to complete the flight.
IndiGo flight 6E-7124 made an emergency landing in Chennai, India, on November 4th.
The plane flying from Rajahmundry, India, was on final approach to Chennai when the crew went around due to an engine failure.
The plane subsequently landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

What: Air Canada Airbus A330-300 en route from Vancouver, BC to Tokyo, Japan
Where: Vancouver
When: June 4th 2009
Who: 147 people on board
Why: The Airbus experienced pressurization issues en route. The plane returned to Vancouver and landed safely an hour after it left.
What: Ryanair Boeing 737-800 en route from Poznan (Poland) to Madrid,SP (Spain)
Where: Frankfurt
When: Aug 30th 201
Why: While en route, the flight developed cabin pressure problems. The crew diverted to Frankfurt Germany where they made a safe landing.
Passengers were provided an alternative flight.
