MarshA helicopter made an emergency landing in a field in Snargate Lane, Brookland, England, at around 11:10 a.m. on February 13.

The incident happened when the helicopter was carrying 2 men. According to South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman Rich Airey, “It was reported that the helicopter had a soft landing but then rolled onto its side…We sent two ambulances, a car and the hazardous area response team.”

Both occupants of the Robinson R22 suffered only minor injuries. Authorities confirmed that they did not need hospital treatment.

The accident is being investigated.

British Channel 4 is deliberately crashing a jet loaded with cameras and sensors.

Two former US navy pilots will set the plane on autopilot and then parachute out before the plane crashes in the desert.

The location of the 300 seat jet crash will not be disclosed. This is the latest in sensationalist programming designed for ratings (but masquerading as scientific research.) According to Channel 4, “It’s going to be designed as a survivable crash. There is no point in atomising the plane – we wouldn’t learn anything from it.”

The plane won’t be occupied but that doesn’t mean there aren’t bloody consequences. Apparently this new series is coming at the cost of axing established thrill-a-minute programming like “wife swap.”

AA Flight Diverts to Kansas City due to Electrical Issues

American EagleAmerican Airlines flight AA-1507 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Kansas City, Missouri, on August 8th.

The plane heading from O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois, to Tucson, Arizona, was diverted due to electrical issues.

The plane landed uneventfully. There were 130 people aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

Buffalo: Comair Icing Problem

What: Delta/Comair Canadair CRJ-100 en route from New York City to Buffalo
Where: Buffalo Niagara International Airport
When: Mar 14th 2010 11:45 a.m.
Who: 53 passengers
Why: While en route ten minutes before landing, the flight crew reported their left engine anti-ice system had developed a problem. They landed safely.

Is “anti-ice” system a synonym for pitot tubes? If so, please note that this non-fly-by-wire plane managed to land safely in spite of whatever problems developed.

Lufthansa Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Spain

Lufthansa flight LH-1825 had to return for an emergency landing in Bilbao, Spain, on February 27th.

The Airbus A319-100 plane took off for Munich, Germany, but had to turn back due to a cargo door indication.

The plane landed safely. There were 109 people aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

NordStar Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Cracked Windshield

NordStar flight Y7-515 made an emergency landing at Krasnoyarsk International Airport, Russia, on November 4th.

The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from Novosibirsk, Russia, to Sanya, China, was diverted due to a cracked windshield.

The plane landed safely. All one hundred and seventy-three people aboard remained unharmed.

Qantas Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Los Angeles

Qantas Airways flight QF-94 had to return and make an emergency landing in Los Angeles, California, on May 20th.

The Airbus A380-800 plane took off for Melbourne, Australia, but had to turn back after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.

The plane landed safely. All 480 people aboard remained unharmed.
