    Hainan Airlines Flight Returns to Hefei after Indication of Smoke in Cargo Hold

    Hainan AirlinesHainan Airlines flight HU-7244 had to return and make an emergency landing at Hefei Xinqiao International Airport, China on the morning of July 8.

    The Boeing 737-800, heading to Guangzhou, had to be turned back after the crew received indication of smoke in the cargo hold.

    The plane landed safely and was evacuated through emergency slides.

    There were 162 passengers and 9 crew members aboard the plane; authorities said 8 of them sustained injuries during evacuation and were taken to hospitals.

    Civil Aviation Authority of China (CAAC) were investigating.

    What: Delta Airlines Boeing 767-300 en route from Las Vegas to Atlanta,GA
    Where: Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport Atlanta
    When: Jun 2nd 2011, 5:53 p.m
    Why: While en route to Atlanta, on approach the left engine developed issues and began smoking. Pilots made a safe landing.

    Passengers disembarked on the runway and were provided transportation to the terminal.

    Fog Diverts Delhi Flight to Patna

    What: Go Airways en route from Lucknow to Delhi
    Where: Patna
    When: October 22, 2010
    Why: While en route, weather (fog) developed in Delhi, and the flight diverted to Patna where it made a safe landing. There were no injuries. However the passengers were upset, as they pressured for information about when they would be able to continue to Delhi.

    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Philadelphia

    American Airlines flight AA-52 had to return and make an emergency landing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on October 11th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane took off for Prague, Czech Republic, but had to turn back after the crew received indications of hydraulic issues.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Virgin Atlantic Flight Diverts to Canada due to Technical Issue

    Virgin AtlanticVirgin Atlantic Flight 19 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Goose Bay Airport in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, on November 22nd.

    The plane flying from London, United Kingdom, to San Francisco, California, was diverted due to a technical issue.

    Saratov Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Engine Problem

    Saratov Airlines flight 6W-5817 had to return and make an emergency landing in Saratov, Russia, on October 28th.

    The plane took off for Mineralnye Vody, Russia, but had to turn back due to an engine issue.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All seventy-eight people aboard remained safe.
