    Turkish Airlines Plane Overruns Runway in Kosovo

    Turkish airlinesTurkish Airlines flight overran the runway of Pristina International Airport, Pristina, Kosovo, on May 2nd.

    The Boeing 737-800 en-route from Istanbul, Turkey, landed at Pristina’s runway and veered off before coming to a stop at the soft ground, 40 meters past the runway end and about 20 meters left of the paved surface of the runway end safety area.

    All the passengers disembarked the plane safely.

    The incident remains under investigation.

    China Eastern Plane Hits Runway Lights during Landing in China

    china easternChina Eastern flight MU-5443 struck approach lights while it was landing at Kangding Airport, Kangding, Sichuan, China, on May 1st.

    The Airbus A319-100, heading from Chengdu, to Kangding, China, was on approach to runway when it hit approach lights, damaging its hydraulic system, before finally landing without further incident.

    The plane received substantial damage. All people onboard remained unharmed.

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing near Grand Prairie Municipal Airport

    A small plane made an emergency landing near Grand Prairie Municipal Airport in Texas, on April 30th.

    Authorities said the plane experienced engine problems shortly after it took off from Grand Prairie Municipal Airport. The pilot was attempting to return but could not make it to there and landed near an apartment complex on Arkansas Lane.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard remained unharmed.

    British Airways Plane Intercepted by Hungarian Fighter Jets

    British airwaysBritish Airways flight BA-108 was intercepted by fighter aircrafts after it lost communication with Hungary’s ATC on April 30th.

    The Boeing 777-200, heading from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to London, England, lost contact with the ATC while it was entering Hungary’s Airspace.

    The Hungarian Authorities dispatched two Saab Gripen fighter planes to intercept the plane, however, the communication was restored shortly afterwards. The fighter jets returned to the base while the flight continued to London.

    Allegiant Airlines Plane makes Safe Landing in Arizona after Engine Failure

    AllegiantAllegiant Airlines flight 175 made a safe landing at Phoenix- Mesa Gateway Airport, Mesa, Arizona, on April 28th.

    The aircraft, en-route to Arizona, was mid-air when the crew reported engine failure, and had to struggle hard to gain altitude before landing.

    The plane landed successfully. All 137 people onboard remained unharmed.

    Small Plane Crashed on Lake Gaston, North Carolina

    A small plane crashed on Lake Gaston, North Carolina, on April 24th.

    The 2005 Maule 235 single engine-plane was attempting to land when the pilot lost control and it flipped three times.

    There were three people aboard, including the pilot Paul Heaton, of Roanoke Rapids, and two passengers; none of them were hurt.

    Military Helicopter Crashes in Myanmar

    A Myanmar Air Force helicopter crashed into a reservoir near Meikhtila, Myanmar, on April 26th.

    Authorities said the Bell-206 helicopter, that took off from Meiktila airport, was on a training exercise when it went down due to engine failure.

    There were two pilots aboard at the time; both of them were rescued by fishermen.

    Small Plane Crashed into Pompano Beach House; 3 Injured

    A small plane crashed into a home located at 925 NE 26th Ave. in Pompano Beach, Florida, on April 25th.

    The Hawker Beechcraft 76 plane went down shortly after taking off from Pompano Beach Airpark.

    There were two men and a woman aboard the plane at the time; all of them were critically injured. Authorities confirmed that no one on the ground was injured.

    The aircraft is registered to Florida Aviation Academy.

    The FAA is investigating.

    A small plane crashed in a remote mountainous area near Nakusp, British Columbia, Canada, on April 11th.

    Authorities said the Rockwell 112B plane, that took off from Kelowna, went down in the Trout Lake area.

    A Cessna 206 plane crashed on Admiralty Island, Alaska, on April 8th.

    The commuter airplane, owned by Sunrise Aviation based in Wrangell, Alaska, was carrying four people when it went down near Angoon village.

    Three people were killed in the crash while the fourth one survived. She was airlifted to a hospital in Juneau.

    A military plane crashed on Kyushu island, Japan, after losing contact with the air traffic control on April 6th.

    The U-125 plane was carrying six crew members when it disappeared from the radar around 10 kilometers north of Kanoya military air base.

    A small plane crashed on an interstate and slammed into a car in San Diego, Southern California, on April 2nd.

    According to sources, the plane crash landed on the lane and slid onto its right shoulder, slamming into a standing Nissan Altima.

    The car passenger was killed in the crash whereas 5 occupants of the plane suffered from injuries of varying intensities.

    The injured were taken to nearby hospitals.

    A private Atlas Air plane’s emergency escape slide detached mid-air and fell on the top of a house in Mesa, Arizona, Phoenix, on March 30th.

    The Boeing 767, heading to Sky Harbor Airport, Phoenix, was mid-air when the crew was told that the emergency slide over the right wing had deployed.

    The plane landed safely, whereas the house suffered minor damage.

    Former Canadian Minister Jean Lapierre and 6 Others Die in Plane Crash

    A small plane crashed in the Magdalen Islands, Quebec, Canada, on March 29th.

    The private plane, transporting Jean Lapierre, 59, a broadcaster and former Canadian transport minister, and his family members to his father’s funeral, went down while approaching the Iles-de-la-Madeleine Airport amid heavy winds and snow.

    All seven people aboard, including the pilot, the co-pilot, Lapierre, and his family members, were killed in the crash.

    Small Plane Carrying Four Crashes in West Virginia

    A small plane crashed in the community of Cascade, West Virginia, on March 27th.

    Authorities said the plane went down near Martinsville Highway and Long Circle Road, shortly before 5 p.m.

    There were four people aboard the plane, including the pilot and three passengers. The pilot was taken to hospital with minor injuries while the passengers remained uninjured.

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in South Africa

    A small plane made an emergency landing on the Lookout Beach in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa, on March 24th.

    According to the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesperson Craig Lambinon, “On arrival on the scene a Cessna light aircraft was found to have made an emergency landing on the beach and it is believed that the light aircraft may have suffered engine failure while flying over Keurbooms Lagoon while on a pilot training flight from George Airport forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing on the beach.”

    There were two people aboard, including the instructor pilot and trainee pilot; both of them remained unharmed.

    The Civil Aviation Authority is investigating.

    Authorities said the Cessna 172 Skyhawk aircraft was carrying two people when it overturned and caught fire.

    A military helicopter crashed during an enemy chase mission in Poso District, Sulawesi, Indonesia, on March 20.

    The Bell 412-EP was on its mission to capture Indonesia’s most wanted militant Abu Wardah Santoso when it went down and crashed.

    At least 12 soldiers and officials aboard the helicopter lost their lives and one soldier went missing.

    The Airbus A321-200, flying from Chicago, Illinois to Phoenix, Arizona, was mid-air above Iowa when the crew detected smoke in the cockpit, causing it to divert.

    EasyJet Plane Returns to the Stand after Spanner was Spotted in the Wing

    EasyjetA 25-year-old Swiss passenger prevented a potential aviation disaster after reporting that a spanner was stuck in the plane’s wing.

    Just moments before the EasyJet flight EZS1465 was scheduled to take off, Christophe spotted the spanner and immediately told the airline personnel.

    According to the airline, “easyJet can confirm that EZS1465 from Geneva to Copenhagen on 4 March retuned to stand prior to departure from Geneva as a result of a passenger informing crew about noticing an object in the wing… In line with our procedures, the captain took the decision to return to stand for it to be investigated. A spanner was discovered and removed and the flight departed with a small delay.”
