Swiss International Air Lines flight EDW-405 made an emergency landing in Pristina, Kosovo, on October 3rd.
The plane took off for Zurich, Switzerland, but had to turn back after one of the engines ingested a bird.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unhurt.
Virgin Australia flight VA-8 returned and made an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport, California, on the morning of July 29.
The Boeing 777, heading towards Brisbane, Australia, was turned around after the pilots noticed a crack in its windshield.
The passenger jet landed safely and there were no reported injuries.
After inspection, the crew “rectified the issue”, and allowed the plane to fly again.

Why: While en route, the Continental flight developed smoke in the cockpit.
Pilots diverted to El Paso where they made a safe landing. The plane is being examined. Rescue services have not yet found a source.
Egypt Air flight MS-903 diverted to Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Regional Airport, Buraydah, Saudi Arabia, on September 30.

Why: While en route, a passenger suffered a medical emergency.
Pilots diverted to Winnipeg where they made a safe landing. The unidentified passenger was transported by paramedics to a hospital in Winnipeg.
Frontier Airlines flight F9-1397 made an emergency landing in Tampa, Florida, on January 1st.
The Airbus A321-200 plane was flying from Cleveland, Ohio, when six passengers became sick, prompting the crew to request emergency assistance in Tampa.
The plane landed safely. Medical teams provided assistance to the sick passengers.
Germanwings Flight 4U 814 had to divert and make an unscheduled landing at Stuttgart Airport, Germany, on April 4.
The airline said the Airbus A319, en-route from Cologne, Germany, to Venice, Italy, had to be diverted after the pilot reported suspected oil leakage and shut down one of the engines. “This is a standard safety procedure. It was not an emergency landing,” the statement said.
The plane landed safely and all 123 passengers and 5 crew members remained safe.
The aircraft was taken for inspection while an alternate plane was arranged for the passengers.
