    Virgin Atlantic Jet Diverts to London’s Gatwick Airport

    Virgin AtlanticVirgin Atlantic flight VS-75 had to divert and make an emergency landing at London’s Gatwick Airport on September 14.

    According to the airline, the Boeing 747-400 plane was en-route from Manchester, UK to Orlando, Florida, when it was diverted due to a ‘minor technical problem’.

    The plane landed uneventfully after dumping extra fuel. There were 433 people aboard at the time; all of them remained unhurt.

    The airline arranged a replacement aircraft for the passengers.

    Bird-Hit China Eastern Airlines Flight Makes Safe Landing in Xiamen

    China Eastern Airlines flight MU-5665 made a safe landing after a bird strike near Xiamen, China, on April 1st.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Shanghai, China, was on approach to Xiamen when a bird hit it.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Delta Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Billings

    250px-Delta_logo.svgA Delta airlines flight had to make an emergency landing in Billings, Montana, at around 7:30 p.m. on December 15.

    The Boeing 767 was en-route from Seattle to Paris when the crew requested emergency landing due to an electrical odor on-board.

    The plane landed uneventfully and all 203 passengers and 10 crew members remained unharmed.

    The technicians examined the aircraft and cleared it for resuming its journey.

    Cessna Fireball Crashes in Jennings County Field, 2 Lives Lost

    What: Cessna 177 Cardinal en route from Chicago to Madison Municipal Airport
    Where: S of County Road 600, near Dupont Indiana
    When: Jan 21, 2012 8:41 p.m
    Who: 2 fatalities
    Why: 55 year old Gregory L. Wehr and 55 year old Candace S. Wehr of Versailles, were flying from Chicago, when their Cessna crashed in a Jennings County field.

    A witness saw a big ball of fire fall straight down and explode.

    The NTSB is investigating.

    Bird-Hit Virgin America Flight Makes Safe Landing in Fort Lauderdale

    Virgin America flight VX-501 made a safe landing following a bird strike in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on December 28th.

    The plane flying from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, was on final approach when the left engine ingested a bird.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Aer Lingus Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Dublin Airport

    Aer LingusAer Lingus flight EI 490 had to return and make an emergency landing at Dublin airport, Ireland, on October 5.

    The plane took off for Faro, Portugal, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported a technical issue.

    The plane landed safely. All 181 passengers aboard remained unhurt.

    This is the third time in a week that an Aer Lingus flight has made an emergency landing.
