    University Executives Die in Humanitarian Mission

    What: Piper PA-31 Turbo Navajo B en route from Tomé to Concepción
    Where: Tomé Chile
    When: Mar 1 2010
    Who: Fatalities included Pablo Desbordes, Ignacio Fernández, Luis ernesto Videla, Juan Guillermo Moya and Rodolfo Becker and pilot Marcelo Ruiz.
    Why: The plane crashed near the town of Tomé, Chile while transporting five University Santo Tomás executives for eartquake relief work. They were traveling to the site of the earthquake to evaluate shelter safety conditions. No reason has been reported for the crash.

    Eurowings Flight Rejects Takeoff From Las Vegas

    Eurowings flight EW-175 had to reject takeoff from Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 21st.

    The Airbus A330-200 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Cologne, Germany, when the crew rejected takeoff due to shimmy vibrations from the nose gear.

    The plane safely returned to the apron. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    JetBlue Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Charleston

    JetBlue flight B6-913 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Charleston, South Carolina, on June 23rd.

    The Embraer ERJ-190 plane heading from Westchester County Airport, New York, to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was diverted after smoke was noticed in the cockpit.

    The plane landed safely. All ninety-eight passengers and four crew members remained unharmed.

    Lightning-struck Beech in NZ

    What: Eagle Air/Air New Zealand Beech 1900D en route from Wellington to Palmerston North
    Where: New Zealand
    When: Aug 15th 2011
    Who: 16 passengers and 2 crew
    Why: While en route, the plane was struck by lightning.

    The right winglet began smoldering after being struck. The flight crew returned to Wellington where they made a safe landing.

    UPS Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Engine Fire Indication

    UPS flight 5X-2276 made an emergency landing at Raleigh–Durham International Airport, North Carolina, on December 5th.

    The plane flying from Louisville, Kentucky, was on approach to RDU Airport when the crew requested emergency assistance due to an engine fire indication.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
