A small plane crashed into the Nestucca River in Tillamook County, Oregon, on September 3rd.
The plane had just taken off from Pacific City State Airport when it lost engine power and went down.
The pilot, who was the only one aboard, remained unharmed.
UPS flight 5X-605 had to return and make an emergency landing at O’Hare International Airport, Illinois, on January 18th.
The plane took off for Louisville, Kentucky, but had to return shortly afterwards due to issues with landing gear.
The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

Who: Victims include Baja California Sur state Finance Secretary Nabor Garcia Aguirre, the pilot and the copilot.
Why: The plane was flying on instruments because of poor visibility and heavy cloud cover in the area

Why: While embarking on a flight in poor weather, the plane disappeared from radar while en route. The wreckage was found in a mountainous region (Salang Pass.) Recovery efforts are impeded by location, and current weather conditions which are snowy/rainy.

Who: 2 aboard, 2 fatalities
Why: A helicopter distributing anti rabies bait for wild animal vaccination took off and struck an electrical line before it fell into a field.
The victims worked for Smart Helicopters Srl of Italy.
A dog aboard the chopper was also killed.
Vayalar Ravi, Indian Civil Aviation Minister met or called (on the 18th) victims of the Mangalore crash to discuss their compensation claims. A meeting on the 19th included representatives from the airline, the government and the insurance company.,
The crash occurred in May of 2010, when the Dubai-Mangalore Air India Express jet overshot the runway, killing 158 people aboard.
However other business was also being handled during the meetings.
The outcome of the meetings has not yet been released.
American Airlines flight AA-730 had to return and make an emergency landing in Charlotte, North Carolina, on December 1st.
The Airbus A330-300 plane took off for Heathrow Airport, United Kingdom, but had to return shortly afterwards due to engine vibrations.
The plane landed back uneventfully. All 229 people aboard remained safe.
