    Lufthansa Plane Returns to Germany after Engine Failure

    LufthansaLufthansa flight LH-688 had to return and make an emergency landing at Munich Airport, Munich, Germany, on April 21st.

    The Airbus A321-200, en-route from Munich to Tel Aviv, Israel, had just climbed out of the runway when the crew detected failure of the left hand engine, prompting the plane to return.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    CommutAirCommutAir flight C5-2672/UA-2672 had to return and make an emergency landing at Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, on April 7th.

    The De Havilland Dash 8-200, en-route from Virginia to New York, had just climbed out of Washington Dulles’s runway when it experienced aileron mistrim, prompting the crew to return.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All passengers onboard remained unhurt.

    The passengers were accommodated in a replacement plane.

    Fog Diverts Delhi Flight to Patna

    What: Go Airways en route from Lucknow to Delhi
    Where: Patna
    When: October 22, 2010
    Why: While en route, weather (fog) developed in Delhi, and the flight diverted to Patna where it made a safe landing. There were no injuries. However the passengers were upset, as they pressured for information about when they would be able to continue to Delhi.

    BA Flight Returns to London Heathrow Airport

    British airwaysBritish Airways flight BA49 had to return and make an emergency landing at London Heathrow airport, England, on March 6.

    The plane was en-route to Seattle when the pilot reported a fault in cabin’s oxygen supply system. According to an airline spokesperson, “The aircraft is returning to Heathrow Airport as a precaution due to a suspected technical problem. Our pilots are highly trained to deal with these scenarios.”

    The plane dumped fuel over the Irish Sea before it landed uneventfully. None of the 218 passengers and 14 crew members was harmed.

    A replacement aircraft was arranged for the passengers.

    American Airlines Flight to Puerto Rico Cancelled due to Smoke in Cabin

    What: American Airlines Boeing 757-200 en route from Boston to San Juan, Puerto Rico
    Where: Logan International Airport
    When: Saturday 8:35 a.m-9:30 am
    Who: 185 on board
    Why: After smoke was detected in the cabin, the flight turned toward to Logan, and the crew found and put out the fire. The flight continued on to Logan, where passengers took alternative flights.

    Flydubai Flight Rejects Takeoff From Ukraine

    Flydubai flight FZ-724 had to reject takeoff from Odessa, Ukraine, on October 27th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Dubai, United Arab Emirates, when the crew noticed a problem and rejected takeoff at low speed.

    Smoke was emanating from the plane as it stopped.

    Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
