A Russian military plane crashed into the black sea near Sochi, Russia, on the morning of December 25th.
The Tupolev Tu-154 plane had just taken off from the Adler airport, Sochi, when it suddenly disappeared from radar. The plane was en-route to the Hmeymim airbase in Latakia, Syria, for a New Year’s Eve concert.
All 92 passengers were killed in the crash.
The accident is being investigated.
VIM Airlines flight NN-264 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Bratsk, Russia, on August 29th.
The Boeing 757-200 plane heading from Vladivostok to Moscow, Russia, was diverted after left hand engine’s generator stopped working.
The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

What: Indonesian Air Force civilian Lockheed L-100-30(P) Hercules, en route from Jakarta to Madiun’s Iswahyudi Airport [WIAR] (Indonesia) (The Lockheed L-100 is the civilian version of a C-130 Hercules)
Where: Magetan, East Java. Geplak 325 miles east of Jakarta.
When: May 19 6:20am local time
Who: 98 passengers (troops and their families) and 11 crew. On May 22nd, aviation authorities reported recovering 101 bodies. 15 survivors were taken to local hospitals. The exact number aboard is unclear. The flight manifest is reportedly inaccurate. (Some overlap with passengers and crew numbers. The reports range from 99 to 113 passengers and 13 or 14 crew members.) Ten children were on board the flight. Two were killed on the ground..
Why: The plane was about to land at Iswahyudi military airbase. Witnesses claim the plane split apart in the air, (one of the wings fell off when the plane was still in the air) and exploded.
The plane skidded through a rice paddy, a stand of trees and into four houses in Geplak. 9 people were in the houses, of whom two are reported dead.

What: Aeroflot Ilyushin IL-96 en route from Goa India to Moscow Russia

Who: 265 passengers
Why: After making a safe landing at Moscow airport, while the plane was navigating the runway, its main gear went off the snowy runway.
Passengers disembarked from the stranded plane on to terra firma via mobile stairs.
There were no injuries. The plane had to be towed, tying up the runway until it was removed.
A small commercial plane, registered as HK-4755 PA 34 Navajo, crashed 10 kilometers from the urban centre of Puerto Santander in the Amazon jungle, Colombia, after 3:00 p.m. on September 6.
The incident happened after the aircraft took off from Araracuara Airport, Southern Colombia, and lost communication with the air traffic control while flying over Florencia, Caqueta.
The plane was carrying 10 people, including 8 passengers and 2 crew members, at the time of accident; all of them were killed. Gustavo Ortega, Risk Management coordinator of Colombia’s southern department of Caqueta said, “The 10 people died on impact.”
A statement released by the Colombian Civil Aviation Authority said, “The airplane was found, broken apart and burned, 10 km (6 miles) from populated areas in the municipality of Puerto Santander, Amazonas department.”

A military C-98 went missing Thursday between Cruzeiro do Sul in northwestern Acre state and the Amazonas town of Tabatinga. Eleven were on board. Nine survived, rescued by Matis Indians who live in the area.
The bodies of two plane crash victims were found in the Amazon rainforest Sunday. The C-98 Caravan wreckage was found about six feet deep in the river. One body was found in the plane, the other close by.
The miltary mission of the plane was anindigenous community immunization campaign.
The engine of the plane stopped in mid-air, the pilot landing (deliberately or not) in the Itui River.
