Horizon Air Plane Returns to Montana after Bird Strike
Horizon Air flight QX-2489/AS-2489 had to return and make an emergency landing at Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport, Gallatin County, Montana, on July 2nd.The de Havilland Dash 8-400 flying to Seattle, Washington, had to return due to bird strike, damaging its pitot tube.

Why: According to Susanne Rundström of the airport’s press office, shortly after take-off, the plane was twenty miles from the airport when it was struck by lightning. The pilots made a “mayday” call.The flight returned to Arlanda and made a safe landing. At the airport, the plane was submitted to a routine inspection and pronounced airworthy to fly on the 18th.

Helicopter Carrying Pennsylvania National Guardsmen Makes Emergency Landing
An Army National Guard helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing in a field near Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, on January 22.
The Blackhawk helicopter was returning to Fort Indiantown Gap after a training flight when an engine chip warning light came on, forcing the pilots to land in emergency.
There were 2 pilots and 1 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.
