The plane was flying from Halifax to St. John’s airport when it conducted a missed approach, indicating a fault in its hydraulic and landing gear mechanism.
The crew then manually deployed the landing gear and made a successful emergency landing.

Lufthansa flight LH-521 made an emergency landing in Munich, Germany, on December 19th.
The Airbus A340-600 plane flying from Mexico City, Mexico, was descending toward Munich when the crew received a deflated tire indication.

Why: While en route, a right engine experienced an engine surge. That engine had to be shut down. The crew had to dump fuel and return to Sydney where they made a safe landing about an hour after departure. Passengers were provided a replacement plane.
