    Lufthansa Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Chicago

    Lufthansa flight LH-453 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Chicago, Illinois, on November 20th.

    The Airbus A340-600 plane heading from Los Angeles, California, to Munich, Germany, was diverted after the crew noticed a temperature control problem in the cabin.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    IndiGo Flight Returns to Bangalore due to Hydraulic Leak

    IndiGo AirlinesIndiGo flight 6E-637 had to return and make an emergency landing in Bangalore, India, on May 11th.

    The Airbus A320-200 took off for Patna, India, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported a hydraulic leak.

    The plane burnt off excess fuel before landing back safely.

    All 154 passengers and 6 crew members remained unharmed.

    Turkish Airlines Jet Lands in Emergency with Cracked Windshield

    Turkish airlinesTurkish Airlines flight TK1530 made an emergency landing at Nuremberg Airport, Germany, on April 8.

    The Airbus 321 was heading from Düsseldorf to Istanbul when its windshield began to crack. The pilots then immediately reported the situation and requested an emergency landing at the nearest airport.

    The plane landed uneventfully and everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    The aircraft was taken for repair.

    Scandinavian Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Copenhagen

    Scandinavian Airlines flight SK-997 had to return and make an emergency landing in Copenhagen, Denmark, on September 1st.

    The Airbus A340-300 plane took off for Shanghai, China, but had to turn back due to a spoiler problem.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Russia: Fatal Robinson Crash

    What: Robinson R-44 II
    Where: Nizhnevartovsk, Russia.
    When: March 2, 2008
    Who: pilot and the passenger
    Why: The helicopter was destroyed when it impacted trees and terrain– a swampy forest area in a nose down, right roll attitude.

    The pilot and the passenger were fatally injured. The flight was conducted under Russian flight regulations and the wreckage was not found until July 2008

    What: Lion Air Boeing 737-400
    Where: Pekanbaru airport, Sumatra
    When: December 14, 2009
    Who: 165 passengers
    Why: On landing, the flight skidded off the runway. It took an hour to evacuate the panicked passengers via mobile stairway.

    After a maintenance check, a replacement crew resumed the flight hours later.
