Norwegian Air International flight D8-1608 made an emergency landing in Edinburgh, Scotland, on February 28th.
The plane took off for Windsor Locks, Connecticut, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a lightning strike.
The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
Delta Airlines flight 6077, which took off from Port Columbus International Airport, Ohio at 5:35 p.m., had to make an emergency landing at JFK Airport’s Runway 22L at 6:55p.m. on June 3.
It was learned after landing that the shreds of the tire came off during the take-off. The pilot, not being sure of what happened, decided to make an emergency landing.
The Embraer ERJ 145 aircraft, being operated by Chautauqua Airlines, had 47 people on board.
The plane was inspected by the Port Authority Police Aircraft Fire Rescue Unit, who discovered the damage.
British Airways flight BA-123 had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, United Kingdom, on February 12th.
The Boeing 777-200 plane took off for Doha, Qatar, but had to turn back after the crew reported an electrical odor onboard.
The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.
Air Berlin flight AB-6182 made an emergency landing in Berlin, Germany, on November 7th.
The plane was flying from Munich, Germany, when the crew needed to shut down one of the engines and declared an emergency.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained safe.
An Air India Boeing 777 en route from Newark to Mumbai had 292 passengers and 21 crew aboard when it took off at 4:36 in the afternoon. Witnesses saw flames shooting from the left engine when flight 144 took off.
Pilots reported problems with the left engine, and twenty-two minutes after taking off, returned to land in Newark.
The landing must have been pretty hard, because tires were blown. The airport’s New Jersey spokeswoman Erica Dumas described it as a “rough landing.” Also, the left engine problems were attributed to a bird strike.
Passengers disembarked and were provided hotel accommodations while they rebooked.

What: Wideroe de Havilland Canada DHC-8-103 Dash 8 en route from Florø to Bergen

Why: The pilot was en route to Bergen when smoke in the cockpit forced him to land immediately; but he called off the mayday because he felt in control of the situation.
Before landing, the pilot informed passengers.
The crew stayed aboard until passengers were evacuated. The evacuation was described as undramatic.
Condor flight DE-4156 had to make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on March 19.
The Boeing 767-300 was heading from Frankfurt, Germany to Cancun, Mexico, when a smoke alarm went off. The pilot then diverted the flight to Shannon Airport, where it made a safe emergency landing.
All 238 people aboard remained unharmed.
The airline arranged an alternate aircraft for passengers.
