    Small Plane Mired in Mud at Charlottesville

    On January 30, 2013, a Hawking ventures LLC Learjet 45 was landing at Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport when it overran the runway. Emergency services were on standby and responded to the runway overrun.

    The plane came to rest in soft ground.

    The plane sustained damage. The three people aboard did not.

    Government Helicopter Crashed in Mexico; 2 Dead

    helicopterAn Augusta A109S Grand helicopter, belonging to the government of the state Mexico, crashed just 5 miles off the Toluca airport near Lerma, Mexico, on September 2.

    The helicopter, which was on its way from the Mexico City area to Toluca, was first reported missing at around 6:25 p.m. The rescue teams located the wreckage after about 2 hours.

    Both the people aboard the helicopter died on the spot. The victims were identified as the pilot, Romel Portillo Cervio and the co-pilot, Gerardo Avalos Garcia.

    Gov. Eruviel Avila Villegas, extended his deep condolences to the families of the deceased. He also said that the state authorities and the Civil Aviation Directorate will jointly work to determine the cause of accident.

    Flight Attendants Injured by Turbulance

    What: Delta Airlines Boeing 737-700 en route from Key West Atlanta
    Where: Sarasota
    When: Aug 8th 2010
    Who: 2 flight attendants
    Why: While en route, the flight encountered turbulence, injuring two flight attendants. The flight flew on to Atlanta and made a safe landing.

    Aeromexico Flight Diverts to Guadalajara due to Disruptive Passenger

    Aeromexico flight AM-664 made an emergency landing in Guadalajara, Mexico, on August 27th.

    The plane heading from San Francisco, California, to Mexico City, Mexico, was diverted after an angry “drunk” passenger started screaming and attacking the crew.

    The plane landed uneventfully. The disruptive passenger was removed from the plane.

    American Airlines Flight Hits Turbulence Near DFW Airport

    American Airlines flight AA-60 encountered turbulence on the way to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, on June 10th.

    The Boeing 777-200 plane flying from Narita International Airport, Japan, was on approach to DFW airport when it hit turbulence.

    The plane continued for a safe landing.

    According to the FAA, several people were injured in the incident.

    Hail, Turbulence Downs Sicily Airbus

    What: Windjet Airbus A319-100 en route from Forli to Palermo
    Where: Catania Sicily
    When: Oct 1st 2009,

    Why: The pilot decided to divert to Catania because of severe weather conditions. On approach, the flight encountered wind shear of +50/-50 knots, severe turbulence and hail that signiicantly damaged the plane.

    Severe storms on Oct 1 in Sicily caused several deaths due to weather complications.
