    Mexico: Helicopter Crash Kills Businessman and Pilots


    What: Eolo AgustaWestland AW109SP
    Where: Cerro Alpino, Mexico
    When: July 28, 2012, 23:40
    Who: 3 aboard, 3 fatalities
    Why: The businessman and son of Fidel Herrera left the town of Atlacomulco after a meal with the former governor of the State of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto and died in a chopper crash.

    Toluca Airport lost contact with the helicopter an hour prior to the accident.

    The pilot Miguel Angel Rodriguez Lopez, co-pilot Rodolfo Caballero and the passenger, Armando Hinojosa-Garcia, were killed in the town of Juquipilco when the Augusta 109 chopper they were in crashed close to the Jiquipilco-Temoaya road, in the State of Mexico, North of Mexico City.

    Search patrols located the wreckage early Sunday morning in a place known as “Hill of Alpine”

    A Civil Aeronautics investigation is underway.

    No Survivors in Bhoja Inaugural Karachi to Islamabad Flight Disaster

    Update: The investigation team formed to probe into Friday’s plane crash on Monday (April 23) visited the site and collected evidence.

    What: Bhoja Air Boeing 737-200 en route from Karachi to Islamabad
    Where: Islamabad
    When: Apr 20th 2012
    Who: 121 passengers and 6 crew
    Why: The plane (reported as #AP-BKC a 27 year old Boeing) took off from Karachi, impacted the ground 3-6 miles from Islamabad while on approach and burst into flames in a rural location(Hussain Abad village) near Chaklala Air Base. No survivors were found, and ten houses on the ground were affected. The plane lost contact with the control tower minutes before landing. There was no distress call. There are conflicting reports that the plane was on fire and was not on fire before it impacted the ground. Some reports say the plane was struck by lightning. There was a thunderstorm at the time of the accident. The fire/fireball after the crash does not appear to have engulfed the entire debris area, according to photos of the scene.


    Debris from the crash is said to cover a large muddy area. The area has not been cordoned off; reporters and others are swarming over the crash site.

    This is reported to be the first Bhorja flight on this route. The jet left at 17:00 and was due to arrive at 18:50.

    The flight data recorder has been recovered along with 110 bodies (so far.)

    The number of people listed as passengers varies from 127 to 130 aboard.

    Kit plane crash kills pilot

    A RV-4 kit plane crashed en route to crashed Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport.

    The plane with the deceased pilot was discovered at 7:20 on April 20, 2013.

    The FAA collected the plane at 2:15 p.m.

    No flight plan was filed.

    Ibex Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Hydraulic Issues

    Ibex Airlines flight FW-85 made an emergency landing in Fukuoka, Japan, on September 23rd.

    The plane flying from Komatsu, Japan, was descending toward Fukuoka when the crew noticed hydraulic issues.

    The plane landed safely and had to be towed to the apron. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Wellington Florida Plane Crash


    A Sonex, a two-seat homebuilt kit plane crashed into a lake at Greenbriar Dog Park a mile from Wellington Aero Club, killing the one person aboard the plane. The pilot, Leonard “Link” McGarity had been practicing “touch and goes” The accident occurred on Feb 17 in the morning. By 12:55 rescue crews were on the scene but unable to assist as the pilot died at the scene. McGarity was a longtime professional pilot who flew for American Airlines and Marine helicopters, and had a residence at Wellington Aero Club.

    Prior to the crash, witnesses heard the plane sputter.

    The Wellington Aero Club is a community built around a runway. A neighbor who is a seasoned aviator was quoted saying of McGarity, “If this happened to him, it’s something wrong with the plane, not him. He knew what he was doing.”

    Morgan Freeman’s Jet Crash-Lands at Tunica Airport

    Morgan Freeman’s private jet crash-landed at Tunica Airport in Mississippi, on December 5.

    Authorities said the plane, carrying the 78-year-old actor, ended up in a dirt field after landing.

    According to Morgan, “I was on my plane on the way to Texas to shoot a segment for The Story of God. Sometimes things don’t go as planned and a tire blew on take-off which caused other problems. But thanks to my excellent pilot Jimmy Hobson, we landed safely without a scratch. I cannot say the same about my plane. I appreciate the concern and prayers for our safety.”

    The plane was flying from Clarksdale, Mississippi.
