    Serve Air Cargo Plane Makes Emergency Landing After Engine Failure

    A Serve Air Cargo plane made an emergency landing in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo, on September 10th.

    The plane took off for Bunia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, but had to turn back after an engine failure.

    The plane veered off runway while landing back in Goma. All four crew members remained uninjured.

    What: Jetlite Boeing 737-800 en route from Kolkata to Bangalore
    Where: NSC Bose International Airport
    When: Tuesday
    Who: 150 passengers and 4 or 6 (Both numbers were reported) crew members
    Why: After a bird strike, the plane made an emergency landing at NSC Bose International Airport.

    After examination a bird strike was confirmed; however there was no damage, and the flight continued after a 2 hour layover.

    Small Plane Hits SUV during Emergency Landing

    A single-engine aircraft clipped on an SUV during an emergency landing in Ardmore, Oklahoma, on the afternoon of October 26.

    The plane departed from Norman, Oklahoma and was about to land at Ardmore Downtown Executive Airport when it lost power. The pilot then tried to land in emergency on Lake Murray Drive, however, the aircraft hit the top of an SUV before it landed.

    The authorities confirmed that neither the pilot nor the passengers of SUV were injured.

    The aircraft is registered to New Jersey based Topflight Aviation LLC.

    The NTSB and the FAA are investigating.

    JetBlue Flight Diverts to LAX due to Flaps Problem

    JetBlue flight 213 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport, California, on November 1st.

    The plane heading from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, to Long Beach Airport, California, was diverted due to an issue with the flaps.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Lufthansa Diverts to UFA, Passengers Wait and Wait

    What: Lufthansa Boeing 747-400 en route from Shanghai to Frankfurt
    Where: Ufa
    When: Apr 18th 2012
    Who: 311 passengers
    Why: While en route, the cabin developed smoke which was reported as an unusual odor. Pilots diverted to UFA and made a safe landing. No fire was found. There’s no indication of how Lufthansa is handling passengers, baggage or compensation for inconvenience, but we hear passengers were in for a long wait.

    Jet Airways Airbus Emergency Landing in Hungary

    What: Jet Airways Airbus A330-200 en route from Brussels to Mumbai
    Where: Budapest
    When: Oct 3rd 2009
    Who: 224 passengers and 13 crew,
    Why: While en route, the flight developed a gearbox problem which necessitated the shut down of an engine. The plane landed safely in Budapest. Passengers were provided hotel accommodations.
