    Mexico Crash Kills Water Commission Chief


    What: Cessna Centurion crashed
    Where: just before reaching the airport in Ramos Arispe in northern Mexican state of Coahuila

    Why: Engine lost power, then hit high-voltage wires before crashing and burning/

    Emilio Bichara Marcos and Rafael Reyes died in the crash. Two reporters and the pilot are still hospitalized.

    Hunan Airlines Crash Report Released; Captain and 19 Others Blamed

    The report of the Henan Airlines crash suggests that Henan Airlines be fiend $795,000 due to safety issues and suggests the chief pilot should have his pilot’s license revoked, be removed from his post and expelled from the Communist Party, and should also face criminal charges.

    The report says “says chief pilot Qi Quanjun did not locate the runway before landing.” The jet crashed 2260 feet short of the runway. The pilot crash landed under conditions of poor visibility, then left the plane, failed to evacuate the passengers and rescue the injured. The report names 19 people in all as contributing to the accident. Airline officials and local civil aviation authorities are also cited in the report and may be subject to “disciplinary penalties, be demoted or dismissed.”

    What: Shenzhen Airlines/Kunpeng/Henan Airlines Embraer ERJ-190 en route from Harbin to Yichun China
    Where: Yichun China
    When: Aug 24th 2010
    Who: 91 passengers (including 5 children) and 5 crew; 43 immediate deaths, 3 serious injuries and 50 minor injuries
    Why: The plane overran the runway—and departed the runway on landing—at Lindu airport in Yichun city in Heilongjiang province at 10:10 p.m, split on impact, exploded, and burst into flames. 53 people were rescued, three of whom with serious injuries.

    An investigation in 2008 revealed 100 pilots employed by Henan Airlines’ parent company had falsified their flying credentials; and about a hundred pilots flying for other airlines were found to have done the same thing.

    Piper Crash in San Diego

    What: Piper Comanche (PA-24-250 Regis#: 7690P ) en route from Whiteman Airport just north of Los Angeles to Brown Field Municipal Airport near the Mexican border
    Where: east of the runways at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar
    When: April 11 2009, 11 a.m. Saturday
    Who: pilot and passenger died on impact. (The NTSB preliminary report only listed the pilot; no passenger. News coverage, however, mentioned a passenger.)
    Why: There was no distress call made; air traffic controllers lost radio contact at 10:55. Weather at Montgomery Field, at 11:00 was light rain and southwest winds at 6 mile per hour.

    The pilot is (probably) the plane owner Friedrich L Weber of Burbank, California who with his wife was flying to Mexico for medical treatment.

    Possible Suicide Crash in ultralight in Baru Rumania

    What: Mircea Chira’s Flight Design CTSW
    Where: Baru Romania
    When: June 13 2011
    Who: pilot
    Why: The ultralight took off from Deva airport, and crashed 60 kilometers away in rough topography between Pui and Baru Mare. The plane was loaned by the owner, Mircea Chira, to a businessman with more than 200 flight hours.

    The wreckage was found in a a rocky and forested area in Hunedoara county.

    The 47-year-old German pilot who lived in the Romanian town of Orastie apparently sent a farewell letter which some have interpreted as a suicide note.

    Sheriff’s Helicopter Crashed at Hemet-Ryan Airport; 2 Injured

    Helicopter crashA Riverside County Sheriff’s helicopter crashed on the runway at the northeast end of Hemet-Ryan Airport in Hemet district, Riverside County, California, at 11 a.m. on August 28.

    According to the sheriff’s spokesperson Albert Martinez, the helicopter crashed during a low-flying training exercise. The FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said that the helicopter rolled over while the pilot was trying to land with a simulated engine power outage.

    Two deputies of the sheriff aboard the chopper suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

    The tail rotor of the helicopter got snapped off due to crash. Hemet firefighters sprayed foam on the wreckage to stop any fire ignition.

    The Federal Aviation Administration has initiated investigation.

    Emirates Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Karachi, Pakistan

    EmiratesEmirates flight EK-522 had to make an emergency landing in Karachi, Pakistan, on February 14.

    The Boeing 777-200, en-route from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India, was diverted after the crew needed to shut down its left hand engine.

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were 170 people aboard at the time; all of them remained unhurt.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.
