    Azul Brazilian Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Smoke On-Board

    Azul Brazilian Airlines flight AD-9277 made an emergency landing in Vitoria da Conquista, Brazil, on January 15th.

    The plane flying from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, was descending toward Vitoria da Conquista when the crew declared an emergency due to smoke on-board.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All sixty-nine passengers and five crew members remained unharmed.

    United Airlines Plane Diverts to Ireland due to Engine Problem

    United Airlines flight UA-125 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, County Clare, Ireland, on July 20th.

    The Boeing 767-300 flying from Athens, Greece, Newark, New Jersey, had to divert due to a problem with one of its engines.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 199 passengers and 12 crew members remained safe.

    Philippines Cargo Crash


    What: Pacific East Air Cargo/UPS / ATMA Atyra Transport Antonov AN-12BP en route from Mactan to Angeles Philippines
    Where: SE of Clark airport, Pampanga province, northern Philippines
    When: Apr 21 2010
    Who: 6 crew
    Why: Flying low over Mexico village in the Philippines, the cargo plane crashed south east of the base. The crash fragmented the plane, and it burst into flames. Three Russian crew members were hospitalized, 3 other crew members are reported missing. The pilot, who survived, was quoted saying that the plane encountered electric circuit trouble about an hour into the flight, and a fire that broke out forced him to make an emergency landing on the open field.

    The Interisland Airlines flight was chartered on behalf of UPS.

    Delta Africa Flight Cut Short in NY

    What: Delta Airlines Boeing 767-300 en route from New York JFK,NY to Accra
    Where: over the Atlantic
    When: Oct 29 2010
    Why: While en route 300 miles out of New York, the plane developed an internal leak in the right engine, and smoke collected in the cabin.

    The pilot descended to a lower altitude and made a safe landing at JFK with rescue services on standby. Passengers did not disembark for nearly two hours.

    Maintenance determined that the oil leak or smoke from an oil leak got into the air conditioning.

    2 Killed as Cargo Plane Crashes in South Sudan

    A cargo plane, chartered by Lutheran World Federation (LWF), crashed at an airstrip in Jonglei state of South Sudan on the morning of November 14

    The accident happened when the plane was travelling from Juba to Panyagor. The director of Jonglei state’s Relief and Rehabilitation Commission, Gabriel Deng Ajak confirmed that the cargo plane was carrying relief supplies for internally displaced persons (IDPs).

    Two people were killed in the accident while the third person aboard was injured. The survivor was immediately taken to hospital. The crash also killed at least 10 goats and damaged the nearby houses.

    The cause of accident is not clear at the moment.

    Azur Air Flight Returns to Moscow due to Cabin Pressurization Problem

    Azur Air flight ZF-5555 had to return and make an emergency landing in Moscow, Russia, on June 28th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane took off for Varadero, Cuba, but had to turn back due to an issue with cabin pressurization.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
