    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at DFW Airport

    American Airlines flight AA-1060 made an emergency landing at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, on November 8th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane was flying from Tulsa, Oklahoma, when the crew noticed an odor in the cockpit.

    A small plane crashed near Miami Executive Airport in Miami-Dade County, Florida, on December 10th.

    Authorities said the pilot had declared an emergency shortly after departing from Miami Executive Airport, and was attempting to return when the plane went down.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was killed in the crash.

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing Near Eagle County Regional Airport

    A six-seater Cessna Centurion plane made an emergency landing near Eagle County Regional Airport in Gypsum, Colorado, on June 30th.

    The plane flying from Montrose, Colorado, was on approach to the Eagle County airport when its engine failed.

    The pilot subsequently declared an emergency and landed on McGregor road.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, remained unharmed.

    United Airlines Flight Suffers Runway Excursion at Houston Intercontinental Airport

    United Airlines flight UA-4446 suffered a runway excursion on landing at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Texas, on December 7th.

    The incident happened when the plane was coming from Jacksonville, Florida.

    The plane became disabled. No injuries were reported.

    What: 0640 UTC, a Piper PA42 Cheyenne III
    Where: Grand Case, St. Maarten
    When: May 5, 2012
    Who: Pilot and three passengers
    Why: On May 5, 2012, at 0640 UTC, a Piper PA42 Cheyenne III, French registration F-GXES, was destroyed when it crashed about four minutes after takeoff into the Atlantic Ocean, three miles from Grand Case, St. Maarten. The pilot and three passengers on board were fatally injured. The aircraft was airborne at 02:39 LT and crashed approximately five minutes later about one nautical mile off coast.

    The passengers were a doctor, nurse, and the patient, Panagiotis Vryonides of Nicosia, a sick man from the cruise ship Allure of the Seas.

    Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The foreign, non-scheduled cross-country flight was en route to Fort de France, Martinique.

    Witnesses saw the airplane explode and crash into the sea.

    The plane and remains were later found off Le Galion Beach.

    This investigation is under the jurisdiction of the government of France.

    Who: 43 passengers
    Why: On approach, the plane developed a mechanical problem with its wing flap. The plane landed safely, and was sent to maintenance for work on the wing flaps.
