Why: Not long after takeoff, the plane was struck by lightning. A quarter hour after takeoff, the plane was back on the ground. A replacement jet was provided while the Airbus went in for examination

What: SAA South African Airways Airbus A340-300 en route from Johannesburg (South Africa) to Perth,WA

Why: After a normal flight, on approach to Perth, the plane was struck by lightning. Subsequently, pilots reported problems and began circling the airport. They did a flyby to observe the condition of the tires which were reported as having all “indications lost.” The plane eventually landed safely.

Why: An hour after leaving Miami, the flight had technical trouble arising from a possible lightning strike. After spending nearly an hour trying to fix the issue, the flight turned back, landing back in Miami 2 and 3/4 hours after leaving. Passengers were provided transport on another Boeing 25 hours later.
Lufthansa Cityline flight LH-66 made a safe landing following a lightning in Muenster, Germany, on November 18th.
The Canadair CRJ-900 plane flying from Frankfurt, Germany, was on approach to Muenster when lightning struck it.
The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained safe.
Nordic Regional Airlines flight AY-487 made an emergency landing in Joensuu, Finland, on December 11th.
The plane was flying from Helsinki, Finland, when the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.
The plane continued for a safe landing. All 30 passengers and 4 crew members remained unharmed.
