    Porter Airlines Flight Diverted to Toronto Pearson International Airport

    Porter AirlinesPorter Airlines Flight PD539 made an emergency landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Ontario, Canada, on the night of December 28.

    The Bombardier Dash 8-400 aircraft, en-route from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport to Sudbury, was diverted after its cabin filled with smoke.

    Plane Hits Airbridge

    On April 22, 2013 at 10:30am, a Los Angeles-Sydney-Melbourne flight damaged its wing while on the ground.

    The United Airlines Boeing 747-400 was pulling into an air bay when it struck the airbridge of a parking bay at the airport in Melbourne.

    Passengers disembarked by stairs. There were no injuries but the plane required repairs.

    U.S. Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Strange Odor

    US AirwaysU.S. Airways flight 706 en route from Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina to Germany returned for emergency landing shortly after taking off on August 18.

    The plane was returned to Charlotte after the crew reported a strange odor on board. The plane touched down on the runway uneventfully at around 10 p.m.

    Eleven passengers fell sick because of the smell. Seven of them were treated at the airport and 4 others were taken to Carolinas Medical Center with non-life threatening conditions.

    The cause of the smell is not yet known.

    The passengers were provided an alternate plane to resume their journey.

    Eastern Airways Flight Returns to Aberdeen After Bird Strike

    Eastern Airways flight T3-1035 had to return and make an emergency landing in Aberdeen, Scotland, on June 27th.

    The plane took off for Shetland, Scotland, but had to turn back after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Canadian North Flight Returns to Calgary due to Bird Strike

    Canadian NorthCanadian North airline flight 5T-1748 had to return and make an emergency landing in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on November 18.

    The Boeing 737-300 took off for Fort McMurray, Alberta, but had to return shortly afterwards after its left engine ingested several birds.

    The plane landed safely after burning off excess fuel. All 134 people aboard remained unhurt.

    CityJetCityJet flight WX-112 had to return and make an emergency landing in Dublin, Ireland, on May 20th.

    The plane took off for London, England, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines due to a low oil pressure indication.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.
