Why: While en route, the flight developed problems with navigation and had to return to Guam, where they made a safe landing. No injuries were reported.
FedEx Express Flight 406 made an emergency landing at Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, Kansas, on February 26th.
The Boeing 757, en-route from Portland, Oregon, to Memphis, Tennessee, when the crew reported a pressurization problem and requested an emergency landing.
The plane landed safely. There were two people aboard at the time; both of them remained unhurt.

What: SAS Scandinavian Airlines/ Cimber Air Canadair CRJ-100 en route from Turku Finland to Copenhagen Denmark
Where: Turku
When: Feb 4 2010
Who: 43 passengers and 3 crew
Why: After takeoff, the plane developed a problem with the left engine and it was shut down. The crew returned the plane to the Turku airport and made a safe landing.
Swift Air flight WQ-933 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Miami International Airport, Florida, on July 7th.
The Boeing 737-300 flying from Montego Bay, Jamaica, to Cleveland, Ohio, had to divert due to smoke indication in its cargo hold.
The plane landed safely.
All 155 people aboard remained safe.
American Airlines flight AA135 had to return and make an emergency landing at London Heathrow airport, on December 15.
The airline said that the Los Angeles-bound Boeing 777 had to turn back due to a medical emergency.
The plane, carrying 267 passengers, landed back safely at around 4 p.m.
Authorities said the flight again departed London shortly after 6 p.m.
Lufthansa flight LH-430 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Keflavik, Iceland, on December 10.
The Boeing 747-800, en-route from Frankfurt, Germany, to Chicago, Illinois, was diverted due to reports of electrical odor in cabin.
The plane landed safely. No injuries were reported.

What: SAA South African Airways Airbus A340-300 en route from Johannesburg (South Africa) to Perth,WA
Where: Perth
When: Dec 6th 2011
Why: After a normal flight, on approach to Perth, the plane was struck by lightning. Subsequently, pilots reported problems and began circling the airport. They did a flyby to observe the condition of the tires which were reported as having all “indications lost.” The plane eventually landed safely.
