    U.S. Navy Fighter Jet Crashes Off Key West; 2 Killed

    A U.S. Navy fighter jet crashed near the Naval Air Station Key West, Florida, on March 14th.

    The F/A-18F Super Hornet plane was performing a training flight when it went down.

    There were two aviators aboard, including the pilot Lt. Cmdr. James Brice Johnson and the weapons systems operator Lt. Caleb Nathaniel King; both were killed in the crash.

    The incident is being investigated.

    BN2 Crashes in Caribbean, Pilot Lost, Passengers Rescued

    What: Divi Divi Air Britten-Norman BN2 A Islander en route from Curacao to Bonaire Netherlands Antilles
    Where: Caribbean
    When: Oct 22nd 2009
    Who: 9 passengers and 1 pilot
    Why: When the plane experienced engine failure, the flight ditched in the Carribean. The pilot, Robert Marcel, was knocked unconscious on impact.

    Passengers were rescued by boat. The unconscious captain could not be freed from his seat harness and the plane sank with him aboard.

    Piper Crash Kills Florida Couple

    What: Piper PA-28-180 Cherokee C en route from Waterbury-Oxford to Simsbury
    Where: Onion Mountain, near Simsbury, CT
    When: Nov 19, 2012 10:20 p.m.
    Who: 2 fatalities
    Why: Donald Derocher, 73, and Josephine Derocher, 74, were en route to visit family in Connecticut when their plane dropped from radar into an area of difficult access.

    The plane struck the Onion Mountain, and was located crashed in the Simsbury-owned Onion Mountain Park. Rescuers used chain saws to clear a path to the wreckage,

    The record of takeoff from Waterbury-Oxford airport were denied by the airport manager. The NTSB is investigating

    Pakistan Helicopter in Chenab River

    What: Pakistan Army helicopter en route from Gujranwala
    Where: Chenab river in Punjab, Pakistan
    When: May 23, 2012, 11:00 a.m.
    Who: 2 aboard
    Why: A pilot and trainee were on a routine training mission near Wazirabad in the two seat training helicopter when they crashed in the Chenab river 100 km from Lahore.

    Search parties came to the scene when the helicopter lost communication with ATC. Three army choppers and divers from Mangla are engaged in the search.

    The wreckage was apparently found or retrieved within six hours after the search began.

    Colombia Helicopter Crash kills One

    What: Servicio Aéreo de Ibagué Hughes 369D
    Where: Pitalito, Colombia
    When: Dec 29, 2009
    Who: 1 fatality (2 or 3 aboard.)
    Why: One of the people aboard died in the crash which occurred in an area between two Pitalito neighborhoods. The Air Society Ibague helicopter apparently originated in Ibague, capital of Tolima. Its destination is unknown. Witnesses say the helicopter made strange turns in the air, but the pilot managed not to strike any houses.

    There have been reports of one and two individuals injured.
