    5 Killed after NATO helicopter Crashes in Kabul

    A helicopter crashed at NATO’s Resolute Support Mission headquarters in Kabul, Afghanistan, on October 11.

    Authorities said the British Puma Mk 2 helicopter crashed while landing at the headquarters.

    Five people were killed in the crash. The deceased include 2 U.S. service members, 2 British service members and a French civilian contractor. Their names have not yet been released.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.

    Small Plane Crash-Lands in Stafford County; Pilot Injured

    A small plane crash-landed near Interstate 95 in Stafford County, Virginia, on June 6th.

    The state police said in a statement, “A single-seat, experimental aircraft was conducting a high-speed taxi on the runway of the Stafford Regional Airport, when the aircraft unintentionally lifted off the runway…The aircraft cleared the Centreport Parkway before crash-landing into an embankment alongside the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 at the 137 mile marker.”

    The pilot Roberta A. Boucher, 62, was seriously injured in the incident. She taken to Mary Washington Hospital.

    The incident is being investigated.

    Egypt Air Crashes Into Atlantic Ocean

    What: EgyptAir Boeing 767-366ER en route from New York to Cairo
    Where: Atlantic Ocean
    When: October 31, 1999
    Who: 4 flight crewmembers, 10 flight attendants, and 203 passengers
    Why: On October 31, 1999, the EgyptAir Boeing 767-366ER crashed into the Atlantic Ocean 60 miles south of Nantucket. It was en route from New York, to Cairo International Airport, Cairo, Egypt. The flight departed JFK about 0120, with 4 flight crewmembers, 10 flight attendants, and 203 passengers. All 217 people on board were killed.?Visual meteorological conditions prevailed , which operated on an instrument flight rules flight plan. NTSB determined probable cause to be the airplane’s departure from normal cruise flight and subsequent impact with the Atlantic Ocean as a result of the relief first officer’s flight control inputs. The reason for his actions was not determined.

    Iowa Plane Crash Kills US Senate Candidate

    PiperA single-engine Piper PA-46 aircraft crashed near Dubuque Regional Airport, Iowa, on October 13.

    Dr. Doug Butzier, a Libertarian candidate running for the U.S. Senate seat in Iowa, was killed in the crash. He was contending against the Democratic candidate Bruce Braley.

    According to FAA spokesperson Lynn Lunsford, the plane crashed at around 11 p.m. while it was approaching the runway to make a landing. He also confirmed that the plane departed from Ankeny Regional Airport around an hour earlier.

    Butzier was the only one aboard the aircraft when it crashed.

    The NTSB is investigating.

    Helicopter Crash in S. Africa injures Three

    What: AST Africa Trading 348 CC Robinson R44 Raven II
    Where: Germiston South Africa
    When: Sept 19, 2012
    Who: 3 injured, no fatalities
    Why: The helicopter crashed for unknown reasons in a field near Rand Airport. The pilot was airlifted to Milpark Hospital with chest injuries. A ER24 Advanced Life Support paramedic escorted a woman with a broken leg to Union hospital in the SAPS medevac; and a man was driven by ambulance to Union hospital.

    Motor Glider Plane Crash in Colorado; 2 Killed

    A fixed-wing motor glider aircraft crashed at the Telluride Ski Area, Telluride, Colorado, on August 24th.

    Two people including the pilot were killed in the crash.
