    Saratov Airlines Plane Diverts to Russia after Bird Strike

    Saratov Airlines flight 6W-5806 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Saratov Tsentralny Airport, Russia, on July 21st.

    The Antonov AN-148-100 flying from Penza to Sochi in Russia, had to divert due to bird strike.

    The plane landed safely.

    Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Claremont Municipal Airport

    A small plane made an emergency landing at Claremont Municipal Airport, New Hampshire, on May 3rd.

    The plane was returning from Nashua, New Hampshire, when the pilot reported that he was unable to lower the landing gear. Airport authorities said in a new release, “After exhausting all possible remedies, the pilot advised that he would be attempting a landing with only the nose gear down and locked… The pilot came in on Runway 29 and set the plane down and it skidded to a halt.”

    The pilot, John Wilson, of Lebanon, New Hampshire, remained unharmed.

    Where: Charlotte

    Who: Not available
    Why: After takeoff on this flight, an Albanian passenger got up and tried to exit the plane. It took 5 passengers and crew to subdue him. The pilots returned the plane to Charlotte where the disruptive Albanian-speaking passenger was taken into custody by police and removed to a hospital for observation.

    Was he suicidal? Confused? Destructive? In despair? Incontinent? We may never know.

    Qantas Diverts Due to Faulty fuel Valve

    What: Qantas Boeing 747-400 en route from Sydney,NS (Australia) to Los Angeles,CA
    Where: Nadi, Fiji
    When: Jan 18th 2011
    Why: While en route to Los Angeles, the plane’s engine 4 developed fuel valve problems. The flight diverted to Nadi where they made a safe landing. Passengers were processed by 3 immigration officers.

    The number of passengers was not available.

    25 Qantas economy passengers were offered a ride on the Air Pacific FJ810 service from Nadi to LAX without their luggage. Other passengers took advantage of overnight accommodations as they waited for a replacement flight to come from Sydney. Apparently their first replacement flight also had to be replaced.

    Lufthansa Flight Returns to Frankfurt with Cracked Windshield

    Lufthansa flight LH-1162 had to return and make an emergency landing in Frankfurt, Germany, on August 17th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane took off for Faro, Portugal, but had to turn back due to a cracked windshield.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at JFK Airport

    American Airlines flight AA-20 made an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on December 25th.

    The Boeing 777-300 plane heading from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, to Heathrow Airport, England, was diverted due to an issue with the lavatories.

    The plane landed safely.
