    JetBlue Embraer Diverts to Florida due to System Malfunction

    JetBlueJetBlue flight B6-2020 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Jacksonville International Airport, Florida, on June 9th.

    The Embraer ERJ-190, en-route from For Lauderdale, Florida, to Worcester, UK, had to divert due to a system malfunction.

    The plane landed safely.

    No one was injured.

    Plane crashes In Brazilian Neighborhood


    On May 29, 2013, an Aerocomp Comp Air B experimental air craft was in its initial climb in Sorocaba, São Paulo Brazil when it developed problems.

    According to witnesses, the aircraft spun in the air, and attempted to land.

    The pilots tried to land but struck two trees and crashed into two houses in the St. William neighborhood of Sorocaba. The pilot and copilot died at the scene.

    Responding Emergency services included firefighters, military police, Municipal Civil Guard.

    The cause of the accident has not been released. The investigation is optional since this was an experimental plane.

    Municipal Parks Crew injured, Pilot killed in São Paulo Crash


    On Jan 21, 2013 at 12:45, a Helimarte Bell 206B JetRanger III en route in light rain from West Zone of São Paulo to Campo de Marte Airport with four people aboard flying over a residential area in the neighborhood of Garden Corner, crash landed on two houses in Paul Street Arentino in Jaragua in the north of São Paulo near Highway Taipas.

    A resident saw the plane approaching and saw that the rear propeller stopped. Witnesses in the house say there were electrical lines entangled in the helicopter.

    Civil Defense roped off four properties as unsafe.

    One person aboard did not survive the crash and three others aboard, all crew, were injured but conscious when they were found. One person on the ground was also injured. Some reports say two on the ground were injured. There were four people in one house that was crashed into.

    The sole fatality was the pilot, Stella Melo Marcelo Araujo, who was 29, was single and had no children. The helicopter was an air taxi but the objective was a two hour flyover inspecting, monitoring and surveying regional park areas.

    Ramiro Levy (Depave-1), Bishop Fabian Barbosa (Depave-5) and Idevanir Souza (Communication), all employees of the Municipal Green and Environment were injured. Two crew members were taken to Hospital and Clinics and one to the Hospital São Camilo Emergency Room.

    Five teams were sent to the crash to deal with the injured, the wreckage and the leak in the helicopter. The helicopter’s certificate valid until December 8, 2016 and had passed it’s recent maintenance inspection.

    Helimarte, who operates the helicopter that crashed on Monday in ??Jaragua, north of Sao Paulo, said in a statement that the accident was the first in the fourteen year history of 35 000 flights. Everyone aboard was employed by the City of São Paulo.

    Turbulence Injury over LA

    What: Skywest Embraer en route from Santa Barbara to Los Angeles
    Where: Los Angeles
    When: Dec 6th 2012
    Who: 1 injury
    Why: While landing in Los Angeles, the flight encountered turbulence.

    The pilot made a safe landing, but one flight attendant was injured by turbulence.

    Tam Runs into Wild Winds

    A TAM Linhas Aereas Airbus A330-200 was en route from Madrid to Sao Paulo when the flight sustained an episode of turbulence.

    A dozen passengers were injured, and the members of the flight crew. They were hospitalized when the pilots diverted to Fortaleza. One person had a fractured spine.

    A replacement flight was provided for passengers from Fortaleza to Sao Paulo Guarulhos. There were 168 passengers and 16 crew.

    Canada: United Airlines Overrun

    What: United Airlines Embraer ERJ-145 en route from Washington DC to Ottawa
    Where: Ottawa
    When: Jun 16 2010
    Who: 33 passengers and 3 crew
    Why: On landing in rainy conditions, the plane was unable to slow down and overran the end of the runway. There were a few minor injuries (one pilot injured his leg, the other his neck and an elderly passenger injured her neck) and the plane’s collapsed nose gear damage is considered substantial.

    Passengers disembarked by following the exit route and jumping from one of the wings to the grass.
