What: British Airways Boeing 747-400 en route from London to Los Angeles
Where: over Scotland
When: Aug 7th 2010
Why: While en route, the British Airways plane developed a problem with the fuel system, dumped the fuel while at sea and returned to Heathrow. No injuries. Safe landing.

The event has received significant coverage, chiefly because Victoria Beckham was aboard the flight, and managed a wardrobe change–and photos of both outfits have been published online.

    British Airways flight BA-123 had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, United Kingdom, on February 12th.

    The Boeing 777-200 plane took off for Doha, Qatar, but had to turn back after the crew reported an electrical odor onboard.

    What: Lynx Aviation de Havilland Dash 8-400 (Frontier Airlines) flight en route from Fargo to Denver
    Where: Fargo Hector International Airport
    When: Aug 16th 2009
    Who: 74 passengers 5 crew
    Why: After a bird strike on take-off, the Frontier Airlines plane was cleared to return to the Fargo airport and repaired; but on the subsequent flight, the plane’s landing gear doors did not close after the gears were retracted on the initial climb, sending it back to maintenance.

    Korean Air Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Manila

    Korean Air flight KE-644 had to divert for an emergency landing in Manila, Philippines, on February 28th.

    The Boeing 777-300 plane heading from Singapore to Seoul, South Korea, was diverted after smell of smoke was noticed in the cabin.

    The plane landed safely. All 285 passengers aboard remained unharmed.

    SpiceJet Flight Rejects Takeoff From Ahmedabad

    SpiceJet flight SG-85 had to reject takeoff from Ahmedabad, India, on June 1st.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Bangkok, Thailand, when the crew noticed a blown tire and rejected takeoff.

    The plane stopped safely and was towed to the apron.

    All one hundred and eighty-eight people aboard remained unharmed.

    Runway Overrun in Indonesia

    What: Sriwijaya Boeing 737-400 en route Jakarta to Pontianak
    Where: Kalimantan
    When: June 1, 2012
    Who: 163 passengers
    Why: On landing on the ungrooved runway in Pontianak-Supadio Intl airport in “wet and windy conditions,” the plane skidded off the runway, incurring significant damages. Passengers evacuated directly on to the landing area.

    The transportation ministry told Agence France Presse that “the nosewheel is broken and the landing gear sunk into the soft soil.”

    The right wing is damaged, and the airport was closed as the situation was handled.

    According to JADEC, the weather was “WIOO 010530Z 23022KT 0600 FEW009CB BKN007 29/25 Q1008 RMK CB OVER THE FIELD”

    The NTSC is investigating.

    United Airlines Plane Returns to Shannon Airport

    HT_United_Airlines1_MEM_151006_12x5_1600United Airlines flight UA-67 had to return and make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on May 27th.

    The Boeing 757-200 took off for Chicago, Illinois, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an engine issue.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 108 passengers and 9 crew members remained unhurt.
