Ark. Sgt lost in the Line of Duty in Helicopter Crash
What: Bell OH-58 helicopter Where: field northeast of Quitman Arkansas When: 1 a.m. Who: contract pilot, Jerry Fryar of Ozark and Sgt. Monty Carmikle. Sgt. Monty Carmikle was killed; the pilot was taken to the hospital with injuries Why: The helicopter crashed while on patrol looking for hunting violators. The helicopter crashed, the rotor broke off and the fuselage buckled.

An Aerial Photographers LLC Cessna 177B Cardinal en route from Philadelphia to Manassas with two people aboard ran out of fuel and crashed into the living room of Virginia apartment. The pilot William Larson, passenger Tache L. Alejandro, and an apartment resident were injured when the plane ran out of fuel and crashed in David Ventura’s apartment.
The plane displaced 20 tenants.
The Red Cross is assisting the families.
A crane removed the plane from the building. The photo at the top of our screen was posted on Twitter.
What: Cessna 182 en route from Slidell, La., to Marksville, La. Where: in a wooded area west of Independence, La., near the town of Albany. When: went down just before midnight Friday Feb 28, 2009 Who: Passengers were 39-year-old Tabitha Dolbare, of Vancleave, Miss.; 39-year-old Glyn Ray Johnson, of Gautier, Miss.; and their son Nelson Dolbare, 13, of Vancleave. Why: After the plane disappeared from radar about 11:50 p.m., Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office received phone calls that they heard an engine sputtering and a plane crash. The plane crashed in a heavily wooded unpopulated area not long after takeoff. Rescuers had difficulty getting to the wreckage and were assisted in their search with the use of thermal imaging equipment and a search light.

What: dell’eliambulanza medical emergency service helicopter Where: Mount Cristallo/ Mount Faloria near Cortina d’Ampezzo Ski Resort When: Saturday, 22nd August 2009 Who: 4 people on board: two engineers (co-pilot Marco Zago and Stefano da Forno), a doctor (Spaziani Fabrizio) and the pilot (Dario De Felipe) Why: The helicopter appeared to have hit a high voltage cable while flying in bad weather. The helicopter was in the process of responding to landslide near Rio Gere, towards Passo Tre Croci. Continued bad weather hampered recovery efforts.
This would have been Zago’s last mission before transferring to another job.
The remains have been recovered, however, and were taken to the hospitap mortuary in Cortina Codivilla. This hazardous area frequently requires mountain rescue services.

What: United Nations – UN/Georgian Airways Canadair CL600 2B19 Regional Jet CRJ-100ER on the return trip from Kinshasa-N’Djili Airport (FIH) to Kisangani (FKI) and Entebbe (and back) Where: Kinshasa-N’Djili Airport, Congo When: 04 APR 2011 2 pm. Who: 4 crew, 29 passengers Why: On landing in Kinsasha, the United Nations plane encountered rainy weather and crashed at the end of the runway, breaking into several pieces. Witnesses say the plane encountered windshear at 65 feet and fell straight down. At least eight were thrown from the plane when it broke. There were 32 fatalities. There was one survivor. The crew was composed of Georgians.
The rain helped put out the fire, according to firefighters. The black box was recovered.
The lone survivor, Francis Mwamba, a Congolese journalist, was taken to Biamba Marie Mutombo hospital.
The plane was also reported as a Fokker.
Airzena Georgian Airways made this statement:
“Airzena Georgian Airways” regrets to confirm an accident occurred at Kinshasa airport, capital of Democratic Republic of Congo on 4 April, 10 at 13:00 GMT.The flight was operated under UN mission by aircraft of type CRJ-100 enroute from Goma to Kinshasa. The landing was performed in adverse weather conditions. The aircraft sufferred crash landing, broke up into parts and caught fire.
According to the currently available information crew and passengers died in the accident. The number is specified.
The accident is being investigated officially to determine its possible cause.
“Airzena Georgian Airways” is deeply shocked about the accident and expresses its condolences to the family members of the perished.
A Bell 407 helicopter carrying Honduran political candidate Juan Hernandez to a rally in Juticalpa developed mechanical problems.
The helicopter made noises indicating problems, fell, and lost its tail in Rio Abajo, Guaymaca. No injuries were reported of the six aboard: Hernandez, wife Ana Garcia, the president of Honduras, Rafael Leonardo Callejas, mayor of Tegucigalpa, Ricardo Alvarez and campaign coordinator, Oscar Alvarez.
The helicopter crashed from low altitude. No cause has been determined for the accident. Hernandez continued on the campaign trail in another chopper.
