    What: Air Canada Airbus A320-200 en route from Montreal Trudeau Canada to Fort Lauderdale, FL
    Where: Montreal
    When: Apr 14th 2009
    Why: After reporting problems to air traffic control and returning to Montreal, on final approach to runway 06L the crew experienced “severe mechanical turbulence” and momentarily lost control of the plane. However, the plane landed safely; and shortly afterwards, the passengers were off to their destination–on board another Airbus.

    *Mechanical turbulence is turbulence around buildings, wind eddies not caused by thermal means.

    Condor Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in St. Louis

    Condor Airlines flight DE-2114 had to divert and make an emergency landing in St. Louis, Missouri, on March 15th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane heading from Frankfurt, Germany, to Cancun, Mexico, was diverted after the crew suspected a fuel leak.

    The plane landed safely. All 182 passengers and 10 crew members remained unharmed.

    Royal Air Maroc Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Morocco

    Royal Air Maroc flight AT-981 made an emergency landing in Casablanca, Morocco, on September 9th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane was flying from Lisbon, Portugal, when the crew declared an emergency due to an engine problem.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    JetBlue Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Orlando

    JetBlue Airways flight B6-658 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Orlando, Florida, on February 2nd.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Cleveland, Ohio, was diverted after the crew reported issues with cabin pressurization.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    United Express Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Cockpit Fire

    United ExpressCommutAir Flight 4776, operating as United Express, made an emergency landing at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, on June 5.

    The Dash 8 turboprop commuter jet, en-route from Newark Liberty International Airport to Bradley, declared emergency on approach after a small fire broke out in the cockpit.

    Authorities said the crew had put out the fire with a fire extinguisher before the plane landed safely. All 36 passengers and 3 crew members remained unharmed.

    The airline said in a statement, “We are very thankful for the quick response of our flight crew to ensure the safety of our passengers — the aircraft has been removed from service and will undergo a thorough maintenance evaluation.”

    The cause of fire is being investigated.

    Pakistan International Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Saudi Arabia

    piaPakistan International Airlines flight PK-760 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 11th.

    The Boeing 777-200 plane heading from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to Lahore, Pakistan, was diverted after it lost cabin pressure.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.
