    Wizz Air Flight Returns to Tel Aviv due to Engine Issue

    Wizz Air flight W6-2542 had to return and make an emergency landing in Tel Aviv, Israel, on July 30th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Riga, Latvia, but had to turn back due to an engine problem.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Pilot Killed after Small Plane Crashes in Los Angeles County

    piperdebrisA small plane crashed in Llano, near Lake Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, on August 27.

    Authorities said the single-engine Piper PA25 crashed in a vacant field near 165th Street East and East Avenue X.

    The pilot, identified as Channing Morse, 67, of San Diego, was killed at the spot.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.

    Air India Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Mumbai

    Air India flight AI-937 had to divert for an emergency landing in Mumbai, India, on June 13th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane heading from Kozhikode, India, to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, was diverted after a burning odor was noticed in the cockpit.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All sixty-two people aboard remained safe.

    Midair Collision in Frederick County; 3 Killed, 2 Injured

    CirrusA 2006 Cirrus SR22 fixed-wing aircraft collided midair with a helicopter in Frederick County, Maryland, at around 3:40 p.m. on October 23.

    The accident happened close to a runway at Frederick Municipal Airport, near the intersection of Monocacy and Patrick streets. The helicopter was on a training exercise at the time, while the plane was en-route from Cleveland, Tennessee, to Frederick, Maryland.

    Three people were killed in the collision. They were identified as Breandan J. MacFawn, 35, of Cumberland, Maryland, Christopher D. Parsons, 29, of Westminster, Maryland and William Jenkins, 47, of Morrison, Colorado. All of them were aboard the R44 helicopter.

    Two people, including 55-year-old Graeves, of Brookeville, Maryland and 75-year-old Gilbert L. Porter of Sandy Spring, Maryland, sustained injuries in the accident. They were shifted to Meritus Medical Center’s trauma center in Hagerstown. Both of them were travelling in the single engine plane.

    The helicopter belongs to a Frederick-based training company Advanced Helicopter Concepts, while the plane is registered to Graeves Auto & Appliance in Olney.

    The cause of collision is under investigation.

    Fatal Ak Bars Aero/Tatarstan Boeing Flight 363

    On November 17, 2013 at 6:23 pm, Flight 363, an Ak Bars Aero/Tatarstan Boeing 737-500 en route from Moscow to Kazan, after several go-arounds, and more than one landing pass. On the second (?) attempt, an hour later, it crashed on landing at Kazan. On touchdown, the jet’s nose hit the ground.

    The plane caught fire on impact after a fuel tank caught fire. None of the 44 passengers or 6 crew survived the fire.

    The leased 23 year old plane was registered as VQ-BBN.

    Transport Prosecution Office has opened a criminal investigation.

    The passenger list includes Alexander V. Antonov (regional head of Russia’s Federal Security Service) and Irek Minikhanov, son of the president of Tatarstan.

    Sacramento County Plane Crash kills Two

    What: A three-seater plane, a 1969 fixed-wing Champion Citabria en route from the Watsonville Municipal Airport in Wilton (Sacramento county.)
    Where: crashed on Mount Hamilton near San Jose
    When: Saturday 04/18/2009 at 0705
    Who: Pilot and passenger
    Why: The plane at an elevation of about 400 feet on Saturday flew into Mount Hamilton. The pilot and passenger were killed. The reason for the accident has not been determined. The Citabria was registered to Jeff Blanton, of Sacramento, and owned by Blanton and David Hartley.
