    Father, Daughter Killed as Small Plane Crash Lands Near Caspersen Beach

    PiperA 1972 Piper Cherokee lost power and crash landed on sand near Caspersen Beach on Venice Island, Sarasota County, Florida, on July 27.

    Spokesperson of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, Wendy Rose, confirmed that none of the two people aboard the plane were injured in the incident. However a man, identified as Ommy Irizarry, 36, who was walking on the beach with his 9 year old daughter, was killed. His daughter, Oceana Irizarry, was critically injured and was airlifted to Children’s hospital in St. Petersburg. But on July 29, the authorities confirmed that she had succumbed to her injuries. They belonged to Fort Stewart, Georgia.

    It is not yet clear whether the two victims were hit by the plane or debris.

    According to Rose, at 2:45 p.m., the Venice airport received a distress call from the plane’s pilot. “They were contacted by a pilot whose small plane was in distress. He knew he couldn’t make it back to the airport and was going to try to land on the beach. And he did land at the edge of the water on the beach,” she said.

    The NTSB is investigation the incident.

    Malaysia Moves Ahead with Formula One Race In Spite of MH370 Crash

    Formula one racing in Malaysia will be organized as planned, despite the Prime Minister’s confirmation about Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 crashing and killing all on board.

    However, the organizers have decided to scale down the planned activities considering the somber atmosphere after the MH370 tragedy. The weekend concerts have been cancelled as “a sign of respect to the families and next-of-kin of the crew and passengers of flight MH370.” The concerts featured pop star Christina Aguilera.

    Britain’s Mirror newspaper reported that Mercedes had planned to run “Come Home MH370” signage on all its W05 cars during the Grand Prix weekend. However, DPA news agency reports that Mercedes will now run the words “Tribute to MH370” on the cars at Sepang.

    Sepang circuit boss Razlan Razali said that the F1 race was planned a long time ago, and it cannot be cancelled, despite pressure from various sides.

    Two Soldiers Killed in Helicopter Crash at Fort Campbell

    A U.S. military helicopter crashed during routine training at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, on April 6th.

    Two soldiers were aboard the AH-64E Apache helicopter when it went down.

    Both soldiers were killed in the crash. They were identified as Chief Warrant Officer 3 Ryan Connolly, 37, and Warrant Officer James Casadona, 28.

    An investigation into the cause of crash is underway.

    EVEREST Plane Crash 19 Killed

    What: Sita Air Dornier 228-202 en route from Kathmandu-Tribhuvan Airport to Lukla
    Where: 500 Meters from airport
    When: Sept 28, 2012
    Who: 19 fatalities
    Why: After takeoff, the pilot hit a vulture. The pilot attempted to return to the airport. (The vulture strike is unconfirmed.)

    Villagers could not assist because of the fire. Firefighters had difficulty reaching the area on the banks of Manohara River in Thimi, just a few kilometers east of Kathmandu.

    Four passenger and three crew were from Nepal. Five were Chinese, and seven were British. the remains were taken to the morgue at TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj in Maharajgunj.

    The crew who died in the crash were pilot Bijay Tandukar, co-pilot Takesingh Thapa and air-hostess Ruja Shakya.

    The passengers were identified were Kumar Marshyangdi Magar (Nepal Army), D Rai, Yangchay Tamang and LN Sherpa. One Britain was identified as Eagle Raymond.

    Helicopter Crash In Germany Kills 4

    What: Robinson R44 helicopter, Austrian registration OE-XKS en route from Augsburg – EDMA, Germany to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Airport- LOWS, Salzburg, Austria
    Where: Teisendorf, Germany
    When: June 9, 2012
    Who: 4 fatalities
    Why: Moments after the pilot told ATC he would be making an precautionary landing 15 km from their destination, ATC lost contact with the aircraft, and the helicopter crashed into trees and mountaneous terrain, bursting into flames near Teisendorf, Germany.

    The pilot and three passengers on board the helicopter were fatally injured. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The foreign, non-scheduled cross-country flight originated at Worms, Germany, and was en route to Salzburg, Austria.

    At 1520, the weather conditions at Salzburg, Austria, 12 miles east-southeast of the accident was wind 200 degrees at 3 knots, few clouds at 500 feet, broken ceiling at 6000 feet, visibility 6 miles, rain, temperature 57 degrees Fahrenheit (F). The German government is investigating.

    Cessna Crashes Near Pleasanton Municipal Airport, TX

    CessnaA small plane crash landed on a grassy area along Farm-to-Market Road 3350, outside Pleasanton city in Atascosa County, Texas.

    According to the Department of Public Safety, the incident happened shortly before 7 p.m. on June 16 when the pilot of Cessna 414 was attempting to land at Pleasanton Municipal Airport.

    There were 6 people on board at the time of the accident; all of them sustained minor injuries.

    Authorities confirmed that the twin engine plane was on a chartered flight from Dallas’ Addison Airport to Pleasanton Municipal Airport.
