    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Philadelphia

    American Airlines flight AA-52 had to return and make an emergency landing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on October 11th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane took off for Prague, Czech Republic, but had to turn back after the crew received indications of hydraulic issues.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Aerolineas Argentinas Flight Diverts Due to Cabin Smoke

    Who: 108 on board
    Why: When the cabin filled with smoke, the plane was diverted to Argentina where it landed safely. Passengers debarked without further event.

    Delta Airlines Flight Rejects Takeoff From Munich

    Delta Airlines flight DL-131 had to reject takeoff from Munich, Germany, on December 20th.

    The Boeing 767-400 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Atlanta, Georgia, when the crew rejected takeoff due to an engine issue.

    The plane safely returned to the apron. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    What: Delta Boeing 757 en route from Seattle to Atlanta
    Where: Nashville
    When: Oct 13 2009
    Who: 178 passengers and a six-person crew
    Why: The Delta plane diverted to Nashville when a passenger became unruly. According to WSMV TV, the passenger had to be subdued by other passengers after he began quoting Bible passages. The suspect would not allow the passenger beside him to go to the bathroom, and kept telling her that his blood would be on her and he was not going to let her leave no matter what happened.

    Chief minister of Jharkhand in Helicopter crash

    What: Aryan Aviation Agusta A109C en route to Kuchai
    Where: Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi India
    When: 09-MAY-2012
    Who: 6 aboard, no fatalities
    Why: The Agusta A109C helicopter with chief minister of Jharkhand, Arjun Munda and his wife aboard crash-landed from a height of 25 feet at the Ranchi airport. Those aboard (the chief minister, his wife Meera, two pilots, a security officer and BJP MLA Barkuanr Gagrai) were rushed to the hospital and are being treated for injury.

    The Minister was scheduled to inaugurate a power sub-station.

    Munda sustained several injuries but is in stable condition at the ICU of Apollo Hospital.

    On reaching Kuchai, the pilot had informed ATC that the helicopter had developed a rudder control problem. At Birsa Munda Airport, the pilot made four attempts to land, and then hovered to exhaust fuel. There was no fire when the twenty-year-old helicopter went down, as the fuel supply was exhausted.

    The DGCA is investigating, and has appointed Sanit Kumar as the I.O.

    Air Ambulance Makes Emergency Landing at India’s Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport

    An air ambulance had to make an emergency landing at Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport in Uttar Pradesh, India, on February 17.

    The incident happened when the plane was transporting a suspected swine flu patient, Antoinette Joy, from Sonbhadra district to Delhi. Authorities said the decision for emergency landing was made after the patient’s condition worsened.

    The plane landed safely and the patient was immediately transferred to a local private hospital.

    Authorities said the plane was chartered by the patient’s husband Malcolm Single. The couple hails from Australia and works for a multinational company in Sonbhadra district.
