    Pilot Killed as Small Plane Crashes in Iowa

    A small plane crashed in the median of Interstate 29, north of downtown Council Bluffs, Iowa, on December 10.

    The Piper Malibu Meridian single-engine plane had just taken off from Eppley Airfield when it started experiencing some issues. Authorities said the pilot radioed to the airport and sought permission to return for an emergency landing, however, the plane clipped a power line and went down.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was killed in the crash. He was identified as John Rogers, 65, of Omaha.

    The FAA and the NTSB are investigating.

    PNG Air Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Papua New Guinea

    PNG Air flight CG-8622 had to return and make an emergency landing in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, on May 24th.

    The plane, heading to Mount Hagen, Papua New Guinea, had to turn back due to a low oil pressure indication for left engine.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Update on United 777 Diversion to Henderson Field Airport Midway Atoll.

    United Airlines revealed what went wrong on Flight 201.

    A problem with the equipment supply cooling fan on board the Boeing 777 caused the problems which required the pilots to divert to Midway to land there in the dark. The passengers waited in a gym until the replacement flight arrived.

    The plane that flew in to Midway to pick up the passengers also brought parts and a repair crew. The plane with the bad fan was fixed, and returned from Midway Island back to San Francisco.

    In fact, it was returned to service.

    Now we’d like to hear about the passengers getting their luggage back.

    At Least 6 Injured After Karachi-Bound Air Arabia Flight Encounters Turbulence

    Air Arabia flight G9-545 encountered clear air turbulence near Karachi, Pakistan, on February 28th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, was descending toward Karachi when it was hit by turbulence that injured at least 6 people.

    The plane continued for a safe landing.

    The injured were treated at the airport. At least one person was taken to hospital for further treatment.

    Air Ambulance Emergency Landing

    What: NSW Air Ambulance A Beech King Air 350 (VH-NAO) o en route from Sydney to Wagga Wagga
    Where: Sydney
    When: Oct 23, 2012
    Who: 3 aboard
    Why: A patient, flight nurse and pilot were uninjured when an emergency developed aboard the flight.

    The patient was being taken to Wagga Wagga when the plane had an undercarriage indication failure. The pilot returned to the airport and did a flyby for visual confirmation that the landing gear was not locked in place; and then made a safe landing at Sydney Airport in Mascot.

    The elderly female passenger was transferred to an ambulance and driven to a hospital.

    KLM Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Nairobi

    KLM flight KL-566 had to return and make an emergency landing in Nairobi, Kenya, on November 20th.

    The Boeing 747-400 plane took off for Amsterdam, Netherlands, but had to turn back due to an engine failure.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
