Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security of Laos Dies in Plane Crash
A plane carrying the Deputy Prime Minister of Laos, along with several other high profile officials, crashed in Pek district, Xieng Khouang province, around 500 kilometres away from the capital city Vientiane.The accident happened on the morning of May 17 when the plane was taking 20 people to Xieng Khouang to attend a military ceremony being held to celebrate 55th anniversary of one of the military divisions of Laos.
According to the Thai Defense Ministry’s permanent secretary, Nipat Thonglek, General Douangchay Phichit, who is the Deputy PM, and Thongbane Sengaphone the minister of public security, have been confirmed dead in the accident. Other deceased include the Governor of Vientaine, Sukan Mahalad and two other high ranked officials.
The Ukrainian-made Antonov AN-74TK-300 aircraft was operated by the National Air force and was used for the movement of VIPs in Laos.
The cause of crash is not known at the moment.
Two Dead in Cedar Fort Cessna Crash
A twin-engine Cessna Citation Jet CJ1 owned by Donald L. Baker and his wife Dawn Hunter, crashed near Cedar Fort, Utah. Witnesses saw the airplane on fire and coming to pieces, and heard an explosion. The plane was due at Tucson but never arrived. Two unidentified bodies were recovered from a large debris field a mile long and a quarter mile wide. Snow and fog have been hampering recovery efforts. Why: The plane, which had six seats, was used to give flying lessons. It was returning from the city of Sao Jose do Rio Preto, when it crashed near a village outside the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, killing its four occupants at 11 pm Monday, just after the pilot lost contact with Pirassununga control tower.Searches were performed by a C-105 Amazonas plane, and a Military Police helicopter. The missing plane was found in dense forest between São Pedro and Itaqueri.
The bodies of Instructor Job de Oliveira, Jean Carlos Capelin (30, of São José do Rio Preto), Rodrigo Matos Gomes (27 of Recife ), and Diego Pereira da Costa (27 of Taguatinga) were identified today, and recovered.

When: left Columbus at approximately 2:59 pm Thursday; crashed into a house 7:17 p.m
Who: Pilot and passenger were killed; 2 in the house were taken to the hospital with injuries

Turkish Airlines flight TK-969 had to divert for an emergency landing in Canakkale, Turkey, on July 27th.The Airbus A321-200 plane heading from Ercan International Airport, Cyprus, to Istanbul, Turkey, was diverted after a hailstorm caused damage to the nose cone and the windshield.
The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
