    United Express Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Cockpit Fire

    United ExpressCommutAir Flight 4776, operating as United Express, made an emergency landing at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, on June 5.

    The Dash 8 turboprop commuter jet, en-route from Newark Liberty International Airport to Bradley, declared emergency on approach after a small fire broke out in the cockpit.

    Authorities said the crew had put out the fire with a fire extinguisher before the plane landed safely. All 36 passengers and 3 crew members remained unharmed.

    The airline said in a statement, “We are very thankful for the quick response of our flight crew to ensure the safety of our passengers — the aircraft has been removed from service and will undergo a thorough maintenance evaluation.”

    The cause of fire is being investigated.

    Bird-Hit Turkish Airlines Plane Safely Lands in Istanbul

    Turkish airlinesTurkish Airlines flight TK-1668 was hit by an eagle in Istanbul, Turkey, on September 7th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane flying from Hamburg, Germany, was on final approach to Istanbul Airport when an eagle got trapped in the nose gear.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    Lufthansa Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Manchester Airport

    Lufthansa flight LH-492 made an emergency landing at Manchester Airport, England, on December 1st.

    Authorities said the plane heading from Frankfurt, Germany, to Vancouver, Canada, was diverted due to a medical emergency.

    A Lufthansa spokesperson said, “It turned out that there was a medical incident on board; thus one passenger plus a travel partner was taken to hospital.”

    Delta Airlines Plane Returns to Netherlands due to Hydraulic Failure

    The Boeing 767-300, en-route to New York, was climbing out of Amsterdam when the crew reported hydraulic failure, prompting the plane to return.

    The plane landed safely.

    Private Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Louisville International Airport

    KingairA private Beechcraft King F90 Turbo-prop made an emergency landing at Louisville International Airport in Kentucky, at around 8 p.m. on January 13.

    Airport spokesperson Trish Burke confirmed the incident saying that the pilot declared emergency due to a landing gear malfunction.

    The aircraft’s landing gear failed to deploy on approach and it had to land on its belly. There were 8 people aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    It is believed that the flight was en-route from Syracuse Hancock International Airport, New York to Clark Regional Airport, Sellersburg.

    The NTSB and the FAA are investigating.

    British Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Mexico City

    British Airways flight BA-242 had to return and make an emergency landing in Mexico City, Mexico, on July 17th.

    The Boeing 747-400 plane took off for Heathrow Airport, England, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a pressurization issue.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
