    Tunis Flight Blown Off the Runway

    What: Tunis Air Airbus A320-200 en route from Paris to Monastir to Djerba (Tunisia) with 67 passengers and 8 crew
    Where: Djerba
    When: Mar 10th 2012
    Why: While taking off, the flight was on the runway about to embark on the Djerba leg of the journey when the plane encountered wind which forced it off the runway, and caused some damage.

    The passengers evacuated. Rescue services were on the scene.

    There’s no indication of the disposition of the passengers.

    Beechcraft Fireball Spares Pilot

    What: Twin-engine Beechcraft King Air en route from Hayward Executive Airport to San Carlos
    Where: HAYWARD, Calif.
    When: Sept 16 12:25 p.m
    Who: Pilot
    Why: Witness say after a sputtering take-off, the plane plane’s right wing got low, and the plane had barely got off the runway when it clipped the back of a commercial building just off the airfield. Coming down, the plane was described as a “70 foot fireball”. The pilot was the only one aboard, and he walked away.

    7 Killed in Indian Air Force Helicopter Crash

    helicopterA helicopter belonging to the Indian Air force crashed in Sitapur district of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh state of India.

    The helicopter, which was en route from Bareilly to Allahabad, crashed nose down and bursted into flames. The accident happened on July 25 at about 5 p.m. after the Dhruv helicopter lost radio and radar contact. According to the authorities, the pilot reported a technical fault in the helicopter before losing contact.

    There were 2 pilots and 5 passengers aboard at the time of accident; all of them were killed. A statement released by the air force maintained that there was no report of any damage on the ground.

    Piper Crashes AZ School Before Town Hall

    What: Piper PA-28 Cherokee en route from Springerville Airport
    Where: Eagar Arizona
    When: June 11, 2010
    Who: originally 2 bodies reported, 4 found aboard by NTSB.
    Why: The plane circled Round Valley High School two or three times before it crashed into the unoccupied main building at about 2 p.m. Several adults and children were in the auditorium, setting up for the 6 pm town hall. State Sen. Carolyn Allen and former state Sen. Russell Bowers had been there earlier but had already left.

    The immediate neighborhood was evacuated because of the fire.

    Family lost in Cessna Disappearance in Puerto Rico Day Trip

    What: Ernesto Ortiz(private owner) Cessna A185F Skywagon en route from Culebra to Ponce Mercedita
    Where: 1 mile from Yabucoa Puerto Rico
    When: July 1, 2011
    Who: 5 aboard
    Why: When the plane failed to reach its destination, a search began for the lost Cessna. It was apparently lost in a storm.

    The family was visiting from Hapeville Georgia and had flown to Puerto Rico for a day trip.

    The missing were identified as Antonio Torregrosa Sánchez, 65, pilot of the ship, Sonia Torregrosa Torres (68 years), Edd Diorio (58), Rosarito Villa Gomez (19 years) and Mario Villa Gomez, 13. Coast Guard Cutter Key Biscayne and response boats from the San Juan boat station have continued to search, along with local authorities and Puerto Rican Emergency Management. The Federal Aviation Administration tracked the plane’s radar history to its last point of contact, approximately a mile off the Yabacoa coast. Only the remains of Maria have been found.

    Turkish Airlines Jet Skids Off Runway at Kathmandu Airport

    Turkish airlinesA Turkish Airlines passenger jet, operating flight # TK726, skidded off the runway at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, on March 4.

    The accident happened in dense foggy conditions, when the Airbus A330, carrying 224 people, was coming from Istanbul, Turkey.

    The plane ended up on its nose and the passengers had to use emergency slides to exit.

    None of the passengers and crew members sustained serious injuries.
