What: JAT Airways Boeing 737-300 en route from Istanbul Ataturk to Belgrade
Where: Sofia

Who: 56 passengers
Why: While en route, the right engine developed vibration. It is not noted whether or not the engine was shut down, but the flight diverted successfully to Sofia and made an emergency landing.
There’s no indication what accommodations were made for passengers.
Croatia Airlines flight OU-460 had to return and make an emergency landing in Zagreb, Croatia, on November 21st.
The plane took off for Zurich, Switzerland, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an issue with the de-icing systems.
The plane landed uneventfully. There were 66 people aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

What: Lion Air Boeing 737-400
Where: Pekanbaru airport, Sumatra

Who: 165 passengers
Why: On landing, the flight skidded off the runway. It took an hour to evacuate the panicked passengers via mobile stairway.
After a maintenance check, a replacement crew resumed the flight hours later.
A FedEx cargo plane made an emergency landing at the Mid Continent Airport, Wichita, Kansas, shortly before 5 p.m. on August 15.
The pilots decided to go for emergency landing after the windshield of the aircraft cracked midair.
According to Officer Kourt Klassen, emergency crews were present at the runway when the plane safely landed. There were 2 people aboard the plane at the time; both of them remained unhurt.
According to the FedEx spokesperson, the plane is being evaluated by the maintenance crew. The cargo was transferred to another aircraft to avoid any delays in deliveries.

What: Olympic Air Aerospatiale ATR-42-300 en route from Athens to Naxos
Where: Paros
When: Dec 12th 2009
Who: not available
Why: On approach to Naxos, the crew made a final approach to Paros (situated on side by side islands.)
On advice from ATC, the pilots performed another go around, finding and landing on their planned destination.

What: American Airlines Boeing 757-20 en route from Dallas to Boston
Where: Little Rock
When: 7/26/2009 5:59 p.m.
Who: 185 aboard
Why: After smoke was observed in the cockpit, the crew diverted the plane to Little Rock where it landed safely. Passengers were transferred to an alternative plane (Pictured)
Southwest Airlines flight WN-2701 had to return and make an emergency landing at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, Washington, on May 23rd.
The Boeing 737-300, en-route to Saint Louis, Missouri, had to return when the crew initiated a descent to around 10,000 feet.
The plane burnt fuel and returned safely.
No one was injured.
