    Female Chinese Fighter Pilot Dies in Plane Crash

    A Chinese fighter plane crashed near Tangshan in Hebei, China, on November 12th.

    The aircraft, piloted by one of the first female fighter pilots in the country, was participating in a routine training exercise when it went down.

    The pilot Yu Xu, 30, was killed in the crash while her co-pilot was able to eject before the impact using a parachute. He was injured and was taken to hospital.

    Authorities confirmed that both pilots belonged to the Bayi Aerobatics Team of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force.

    Student Pilot Crash in Settebagni Italy


    On Feb 1 2013 in Settebagni Italy, an Aerotech Cessna FRA150 en route from Roma-Urbe Airport attempted an emergency landing near a runway at the flight school, made a forced landing and flipped. The National Agency for Flight Safety L’Agenzia nazionale per la sicurezza del volo (ANSV) is investigating the forced landing.

    The two aboard the plane, the instructor and a student pilot were injured near Ring Road and the exit in Fiano Romano.

    The plane sustained extensive damage.

    The instructor and student were hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries at 118 al Sant’Andrea for a lumbar trauma and trauma to the shoulder.

    Disaster Drill in Springfield

    Congratulations to Springfield-Branson National Airport for a successful disaster.

    A successful disaster drill, that is, for airport, Willard, and Springfield fire departments and Cox and Mercy hospitals.

    This year staged a mock airplane on fire that had to be put out, and then actors in the wreckage portraying victims.

    At the old terminal, 20 actors were passengers who were dead or injured, and first responders were able to practice significant emergency response. Springfield-Branson National Airport is a likely location for a landing disaster situation because they have a long runway designed to accommodate a big airliner being able to land.

    Filmmakers Lost in Aussie Chopper Accident

    What: Bankstown Helicopter Pty. Ltd. Robinson R44 Raven II
    Where: Jaspers Brush Airfield, Berry, NSW, Australia
    When: Feb 2, 2012, 3:55 pm
    Who: 2 aboard
    Why: Taking off, the helicopter was carrying two men scouting locations for a Jervis Bay documentary when the Robinson crashed and caught the field on fire.

    Andrew Wight, The fifty year old pilot was from Melbourne, writer-producer of the 3D movie “Sanctum” based on Wight’s near-death experience in an underwater cave.

    Mike DeGruy, 60, of Santa Barbara, California, won multiple Emmy and British Academy of Film and Television Arts, or BAFTA, awards for cinematography. He was a specialist in underwater photography.

    Four ATSB investigators will be investigating.

    A Rural Fire Service (RFS) responded. The cabin of the chopper burned, and sparked a brush fire.

    5 Killed as Small Plane Crashes in Bacon County, Ga.

    A small plane crashed near Alma, Bacon County, Georgia, early on September 16.

    According to Sheriff Richard Foskey, the plane went down after taking off from Bacon County Airport, Alma.

    There were 5 people onboard, including one woman. All of them were killed in the crash.

    The NTSB will investigate.

    Aero Resources Flight Crashes in North Carolina, 4 die in crash


    What: Aero Resources Corp. of Hazard Beechcraft 58 Baron en route from Georgia to Kentucky
    Where: Unaka, about 125 miles west of Asheville, NC
    When: May 25, 2011
    Who: 4 fatalities: pilot Mat Shuey, Tiffany Maggard, Kassie Robinson and Miranda Morgan
    Why: Pilot Mat Shuey was flying at 9,000 feet, above the area peaks when he reported an emergency over North Carolina when it crashed north of Lake Hiwassee near the Tennessee border, and started a brush fire.

    The wreckage was spotted on the afternoon of the 25th but the site was not immediately accessible. The pilot and three female passengers died in the crash. The four bodies were recovered by rescue crews on Thursday.

    Tiffany Maggard, Kassie Robinson and Miranda Morgan, who had all graduated from a Knott County Kentucky high school, had been visiting a friend in Alabama. The pilot’s name was not released.
