    Jetstar Plane Makes Emergency Landing at RAAF Base Williamtown

    JetstarJetstar flight JQ 413 had to make an emergency landing at the Royal Australian Air Force base in Williamtown, New South Wales, Australia, on the afternoon of June 22.

    The pilot declared emergency after the crew reported a bizarre smell in the aircraft’s cabin. The flight was en-route from Gold Coast, Queensland to Sydney at the time.

    All 190 passengers aboard remained unharmed and were taken to Sydney by buses.

    The plane was taken for inspection. Authorities believe it was cigarette smoke coming out of toilet.

    Turbulence Always Possible: China Southern 9 Injured

    What: China Southern Airlines Boeing 777-200 en route from Guangzhou to Shanghai
    Where: Guangzhou
    When: May 10th 2012
    Who: 9 injured
    Why: Twenty minutes after taking off from Guangzhou, the plane encountered clear air turbulence.

    Those who weren’t buckled in, including flight attendants, were injured during the turbulence. Injuries included fractures, and other injuries. The extent of the turbulence is being reported as “a pocket of extreme turbulence.”

    One passenger blogged “I had a horrible feeling that I was going to die at that moment because I suddenly felt being weightless.

    A flight attendant and her dining cart were tossed in the air.

    Pilots continued to Shanghai, where nine injured were transported to hospital facilities.

    The plane was grounded for inspection but later released for service.

    Vision Air Plane Lands in Emergency at Las Vegas Airport

    Vision airA Vision Air plane had to make an emergency landing at McCarran International Airport, Las Vegas, at around 2:35 p.m. on August 5.

    The decision for emergency landing was made after a mechanical failure was noticed in the aircraft, carrying 19 people at the time.

    The plane landed uneventfully and no injuries were reported. The passengers were off-loaded at Terminal 1 and the plane was towed out of the terminal. A shuttle bus transported the passengers back to North Las Vegas.

    Vision Air is a tourist company operating out of North Las Vegas.

    LAX: United Airlines Hydraulics Leak

    What: United Airlines Boeing 777-200 en route from Los Angeles ,CA to Narita
    Where: Los Angeles
    When: Oct 5th, 2009
    Why: About twenty minutes after takeoff, the plane experienced a hydraulics leak. The flight crew decided to return to LAX, where it landed safely at 2:21 p.m.

    Maintenance crews are inspecting the plane.

    China Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Wake Island

    China Airlines flight CI-17 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Wake Island, United States, on December 12th.

    The Airbus A330-300 plane heading from Honolulu, Hawaii, to Tokyo, Japan, was diverted due to issues with one of the engines.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
