    Kenya Crash Investigation Begins

    What: Kenya Police Air Wing Eurocopter AS 350B3e Ecureuil
    Where: Ngong Hills, near Nairobi Kenya
    When: June 10, 2012
    Who: 6 aboard
    Why: The team put together to investigate the June 10 crash has visited the crash site and said they will begin mapping the area. A representative of the victims will be at the team meetings in an effort to promote transparency. Two Kenyan Ministers were aboard the helicopter.

    Air India Flight Lands in Emergency at Toronto

    airindiaAir India flight 126 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Toronto Pearson Airport, Canada, at around 0700 hours IST on September 7.

    The Chicago-Delhi-Hyderabad flight was diverted after the pilot suspected oil leakage in one of the 2 engines of the Boeing 777 ER aircraft.

    The plane landed safely after shedding extra fuel and none of the 342 passengers aboard was hurt.

    Ground engineers at Toronto Pearson Airport were inspecting the aircraft for determining source of leakage.

    What: New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s private Dassault Falcon 900EX en route to Boston for the Kennedy funeral
    Where: Boston
    Who: Mayor Michael Bloomberg
    Why: After a bird strike nearly crippled the landing gear, the pilot requested an emergency landing in Boston–and landed safely.

    Safely for everyone but the bird.

    Piper Aircraft Crashes at DeKalb County Highway; 4 Killed

    fireA single-engine Piper PA-32 crashed during an emergency landing at interstate 285 in DeKalb County, Georgia on May 8.

    The incident happened when the plane was transporting 4 people from DeKalb Peachtree Airport to Oxford, Mississippi to attend a University of Mississippi graduation ceremony.

    Everyone aboard was killed in the crash. The victims were later identified as the pilot Greg Byrd, his sons Christopher and Phillip, and Christopher’s fiancee, Jackie Kulzer.

    The cause of accident is being investigated.

    Cessna Crash in Rome Kills 2, Burns 30 cars

    What: Cessna 402B en route from Montichiari to Rome
    Where: Ciampino, Rome, Italy
    When: Sept 7, 2012
    Who: 2 fatalities
    Why: In Rome, a Cessna has crashed in a car depot near Ciampino airport. Thirty cars sequestered by police were damaged.

    The two aboard were killed on impact. They had been intending to land at Urbe airport in Rome but impacted at 167 Via Fioranello. Alfredo Segariol and Antonio Salvoldi, 39, Brescia were in the air performing a photographic surveys for the Rossi company. After impact, the Cessna caught fire; and the fire spread to gut thirty cars at the depot. The plume of smoke was visible across the city.

    It is not yet known if the plane had mechanical trouble or ran out of fuel.

    Kuwait Emergency Landing

    What: Kuwait Airways Airbus A320-200 en route from Tehran Imam Khomeini Iran to Kuwait
    Where: Imam Khomeini International Airport
    When: Oct 20th 2009
    Who: 112 passengers
    Why: The Airbus developed hydraulics and flight control problems shortly after takeoff, so it returned to the airport for an emergency landing.

    No injuries…and back in service in 5 hours.
